WOMEN’S HEALTHCARE
Personalized care for women of
all ages and at all stages of life.
Board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and
Gynecologic Oncology, Mount Sinai physicians are
nationally recognized for their advanced training, and
diagnosis and treatment capabilities in minimally invasive
and robotic surgery. What makes gynecologic
oncologists so unique is that they are skilled radical as
well as minimally invasive surgeons and are all practiced
in the delivery and principles of chemotherapy and
radiation. As part of their training, our gynecologic
oncologists have all spent considerable time in the
laboratory which results in a seamless and integrative
approach to disease management and is one reason why
women come to Mount Sinai from all over the world.
All of our therapeutic and surgical procedures are
offered in collaboration with the foremost experts in
early detection, diagnostic and interventional radiology,
genetics, radiation therapy, palliative care, behavioral
medicine, nutrition, and physical therapy.
Our gynecologic oncologists practice at the Ruttenberg
Cancer Treatment Center in collaboration with the Tisch
Cancer Institute to evaluate and manage surgical
patients, provide consultations, and administer
chemotherapy in a unified and intimate setting designed
to ensure patient privacy and comfort. Our division also
utilizes nurses specifically trained in cancer treatment
services and on-site oncology pharmacists.
Our specially trained physicians work hand-in-hand with
each woman to develop a plan of care tailored to her
personal needs and medical history. Services include
clinical care, monitoring and state-of-the-art diagnostic
testing and more. Smooth teamwork and good
communication with other specialists ensure that our
patients receive the best possible care.

We are a member of the Gynecologic Oncology Group
(GOG) which offers our patients exposure to national
protocols. Mount Sinai has been a pioneer in investigating
optimal chemotherapeutic regimens for patients with
gynecologic cancers leading to significant improvements
in outcomes. We are also home to the Ovarian Cancer
Risk Assessment Program, an international clinical and
scientific effort to identify new screening methods for the
early detection of ovarian cancer. Our gynecologic
oncologists, board-certified geneticists, genetic
counselors, pathologists and basic scientists work as part
of a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary team that provides
personalized risk assessment, and access to support,
advocacy and lay resources for women at risk.
Support Services
Mount Sinai’s Woman to Woman program is a unique
network of trained volunteer survivors of gynecologic
cancer who provide hope, one-on-one support, education
and advocacy for women in treatment for gynecologic
cancer at Mount Sinai, their partners, families and
caregivers. It is the only support program of its kind
exclusively for women with gynecologic cancer. The
volunteers, who were all treated at Mount Sinai, provide a
unique perspective on survivorship that can only come
from someone who has been there before.
