Choral Scope and Sequence
Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret music notation
 Identify the notes by pitch names
 Identify and perform note/rest values: whole, half, dotted half, quarter, dotted quarter, eighth
 Demonstrate ability to sight read
 Sing various examples in 4/4, ¾, 2/4
 Demonstrate understanding of a key signature
 Demonstrate understanding of accidentals
 Demonstrate and define the following dynamic markings: piano, mezzo piano, mezzo forte,
forte, crescendo, decrescendo
 Define and demonstrate proper use of the following tempos: largo, andante, moderato, allegro,
and presto
 Define and demonstrate proper use of the following articulations: staccato, legato, slur, tenuto
 Demonstrate the proper use of repeat signs with 1st and 2nd endings, D.C. and D.S. al Fine
 Demonstrate the ability to follow the following tempo changes: ritardando/Accelerando
