CTA – Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique-is a non-governmental economic organization, nonpartisan, constituted in April 5, 1996. 20 years of public and private dialogue; and CTA is currently comprised of 124 members among them Federations, Chambers of Commerce and Business Associations and it has representation throughout the country and covers all economic sectors. 4/30/2017 2 2 . OMBUDSMAN: CTA´S ROLE It´s charged with the responsanility to representing the interests of the private business sector by investigating and addressing complaints of maladministration or a violation of rights. The task of ombudsman include the investigation of complaints from business sector and attempt to resolve them, usually through recommendations (binding or not) or mediation, including lobby. Ombudsman also aims to identify systematic issues leading to poor service delivery or breaches of private business's rights. 4/30/2017 9 9. INVESTMENTS OPORTUNITIES. As Sub-Saharan Africa’s 10th largest economy, which translates to just under 25 million people, Mozambique’s domestic consumer market is relatively small. But as a member of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), investors in the country gain access to the larger southern African region. Today, Mozambique seizes the spotlight for its growing oil and gas reserves. Foreign investment flows into the country to boost the energy sector. But investment opportunities in Mozambique should not stop there. Other sectors also offer high rewards. 4/30/2017 14 12. The country is endowed with a range of climatic conditions, thus providing an opportunity for a diverse range of agricultural production. Its geographical position opens it to markets in the Middle East and Asia. But the country still imports more than it exports in many agricultural sectors. 15 14. INVESTMENTS OPORTUNITIES LOGISTIC WAREHOUSE 4/30/2017 Mozambique’s energy boom is complemented by a rapid infrastructure build. Yet transport capacity and logistics remain the biggest challenges in the country. The extractive sector is unable to transport all the extractives products. Mozambique needs longterm answer, meaning huge investments. REAL ESTATE Apartment in Maputo it’s expensive. It is not at all uncommon for a twobedroom apartment to cost $700 to $800 per month. Adding to the demand from locals, are developers have to keep up the influx of foreigners moving to the city. The growth goes beyond housing. Shopping malls, restaurants, and warehouses are also part of the rapidly increasing demand. 16 15.
