Specializing assistant is not quite the same as a British SpR, but is a recognized
training post.
Extensive experience of a wide range of Pulmonary Medical conditions and their
management :Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary diseases, Bronchic Asthma, Bronchic
Cancers and other many Pulmonary and Respiratory diseases.
I have attended the in-patients of the pathology clinic. I have worked in the outpatients department, which has a catchments area with approximately one million and a
half inhabitants reaching a yearly attendance of about 20,000 pulmonary out-patients. I
have established diagnosis, treated and supported patients with a variety of respiratory
problems.
I was also involved in eight (8) monthly emergency duties in the Pathology clinic. I
also provided respiratory opinions for other specialties.

as death Certificates.
Complicated cases were referred to Simopoulos Health Centre or to the General
Hospital of Pyrgos.
I also performed ten (10) monthly sessions at Simopoulos Health Centre which
provided microbiological, pediatric, general medicine (surgical-internal medical cases),
radiology and dental departments.
I have been involved in a wide range of medical conditions and the care of road
traffic accident victims.
1999-2000: Specializing assistant in Internal Medicine Practice.

Twelve (12) months of recognized internal medicine is a Greek requirement for
training in Dermatology.
This post was extremely busy and gave me experience of a wide range of medical
conditions and their management. I was involved in daily out-patients department as well
as attending the in – patients of the clinic and doing twelve (12) monthly emergency
duties (including casualties).
During this period I treated patients with diabetes mellitus and its complications,
patients with cardiac, gastric, neurogical and respiratory problems and especially the
supervision of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
I was also involved in the supervision of patients with neoplastic diseases and
Brucellosis (common in Greece) and associated complications.
2000-2002: Specializing assistant in Dermatology - Venereology.

During this period, I was working in this very busy out-patients department which has
a catchments area with approximately one million inhabitants reaching a yearly
attendance of about 10,000 dermatological and venereological out-patients.
Minor operations (including skin biopsies, electrocautery and cryotherapy) and
supervised phototherapy were also among my activities.
In addition, the department of Dermatology-Venereology had included “Hansen΄s
Disease (Leprosy) Social Rehabilitation Foundation” totaling forty (40) beds. A median
rate of one to two cases with newly detected active disease were hospitalized and the
remaining were mainly elderly ex-leprosy cases with a wide variety of disease–related
disabilities and deformities accompanied by allied problems including dermatological,
neurogical, internal medicine, surgical etc.
I also provided dermatology opinions for other specialties.
