Andrew Y. Yan

Andrew Y. Yan is the President and Executive Managing Director of Softbank Asian Infrastructure Fund
(SASIF), the US$1.05 billion venture capital fund that focus on IT infrastructure sectors in Asia Pacific
region.
Born in the Peoples' Republic of China, Mr. Yan received his Bachelor Degree of Engineering at
Nanjing Aeronautic Institute with distinction in 1982 and was Chief Engineer at the Jianghuai Airplane
Corp. from 1982 to 1984. He received a Master of Arts in Sociology & Economics from Beijing
University in 1986 and received the Top Honorary Prize for his thesis. From 1984 to 1986 Mr. Yan
worked as a Research Fellow at the State Commission for Economic Restructuring of the State Council
of China. During 1987-1991, he studied at Princeton University in the US, where he held a four-year
University Scholarship and worked toward Ph.D in International Political Economy. He received his
Master of Arts degree from Princeton University in 1989. In 1996, he studied International Finance at
the Wharton School Executive MBA Program. From 1989 to 1990, he worked at the Policy, Planning,
and Research Division of the World Bank on several major projects on the reform of Chinese enterprise
and welfare systems. From 1991 to 1994, Mr. Yan was a Research Fellow with the prestigious Hudson
Institute in Washington, D. C., where his research covered the US foreign policy issues on China,
Japan and Korea. From 1994 to 1995, Mr. Yan worked at Sprint International Corporation as the
Director for Strategic Planning and Business Development for the Asia Pacific region. Mr. Yan was the
Managing Director and the Head of Hong Kong Office for Emerging Markets Partnership, the Principle
Advisor to the US$2.7 billion of AIG Asian Infrastructure Funds, from February 1995 until October 2001
before he joint SAIF.
Mr. Yan's many honors include the University Scholars ip, Mellon Prize and University Honorific
Scholarship from Princeton University, 1989 and 1990 respectively; the Top Honorary Prize from
Beijing University, 1985. Mr. Yan contributed to numerous books and articles relating to economic and
political development in China, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea. His book "Trial after Triumph: East Asia
after the Cold War" (1992) had a significant impact on the foreign policy research circle in the United
States.
Mr. Yan is an independent director of Stone Electrics (listed at Hong Kong Stock Exchange). He is also
a member of directors of GWcom Inc., LinkAir Inc., and GCtech Corp, which engaged in wireless data,
4G CDMA, and telecom software business both in Silicon Valley and China.
Mr. Yan is a US citizen and married with one daughter.
Chang Q. Sun

Mr. Sun is managing partner of Warburg Pincus' Hong Kong office, responsible for the firm's
investment activities in North Asia. Prior to joining Warburg Pincus in 1995, Mr. Sun was an Executive
Director in the Investment Banking Division and the Principal Investment Area of Goldman Sachs (Asia)
L.L.C., which he joined in 1992 after coming back to Asia from New York. Born and raised in mainland
China, Mr. Sun had served in the Chinese Air Force as a ground technician and worked at a provincial
utility administrator before attending college and being selected by the United Nations for training as a
staff translator in New York. While in New York, Mr. Sun had also worked at Lepercq, de Neuflize & Co.,
a boutique leverage buyout firm as an investment banking associate.
Mr. Sun holds a BA from the Beijing Foreign Languages University, a joint degree of MA/MBA from the
Joseph Lauder Institute of International Management and the Wharton School of the University of
Pennsylvania.
Mr. Sun is the founding chairman of the China Venture Capital Association and a member of the
Institute of Directors in Singapore. He is a Director of AsiaInfo Holdings, Inc., Eagle Brand Holdings
Limited, Hong Leong Asia Ltd., Little Brenn Limited, NorthPole Limited and MediaNation Inc.
Chao Y. Wang

Mr. Chao Y. Wang is the founding partner and CEO of ChinaEquity Investment Co., a China-based
independent venture capital firm focusing on Technology / Media / Telecommunications (TMT) sector in
Greater China. Founded in 1999,ChinaEquity has emerged as one of the most active and influential
local VC firms with more than 10 companies in its portfolio.
As a venture capitalist, Mr. Wang is acting as board directors of several portfolio companies including
Rising Tech Co., Longshine Info. Futong Tech Co., ChinaCast Information Co., Ltd., and ChinaEagle
Holding Co. He also serves as an advisor to the Global Environment Funds (GEF) co-sponsored by the
World Bank and State Economic and Trading Commission of China, a special advisor to the Science
Academy of China, and an advisor to the Economic Commission of the Beijing Municipal Government.
Mr. Wang is a member of the Board of Governors and the Secretary General of China Venture Capital
Association (CVCA) since its foundation.
In year of 2000 and 2001, Mr. Wang was ranked as one of the Top-Twenty Most Active Venture
Capitalists in China and ChinaEquity was also elected as one of the Top-Ten Venture Capital Firms in
China. Before founding ChinaEquity, Mr. Wang spent 12 year in the investment banking and financial
services industry with Chase, Standard & Poors, Morgan Stanley, and China Development Bank. He
was the Head of Morgan Stanley Beijing operation for 3 year.
Mr. Wang graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology with a Bachelor of
Engineering Degree and holds a MBA degree from Rutgers University, USA. Mr. Wang also attended
the Senior Executive Program of Harvard University and Tsinghua University.
Kathy Xu (Ms.)

Baring Private Equity Partners Asia
Ms. Xu is a Partner and China Country Head at Baring Asia Private Equity Funds I & II (“the Funds”),
which collectively manage over $550 million for investment in Asia.
She has been responsible for the
investment activity in China and Hong Kong since joining the Funds in early 1998.
Out of 5
investments she originated in China, Ms. Xu has managed to exit from 4 of them and realized a total
return of over US$100 million on a cost of US$28 million for an average holding period of 3 years.
These investments include Vanda System (10x realized return), Netease (7x partially realized return),
New Palm (2.8x realized return), Yonghe King (1.8x return, exit in progress) and Pansoft (at cost).
Ms.Xu has a broad range of investment experience including early stage VC investments, expansion
capital and buyouts in Greater China.
Ms. Xu also has extensive board experience and served as a
director of several companies in Greater China including two listed companies Vanda System and
Netease.
She also chaired the Audit Committee and Compensation Committee of several companies.
Ms. Xu was previously an investment manager at Peregrine Direct Investments in Hong Kong.
Prior
to that, she was a senior auditor of Price Waterhouse Hong Kong and a manager of Bank of China
Head Office.
Ms. Xu currently serves as a board director of China Venture Capital Association.

Xu was elected one of the “Top Venture Capitalist” in China by Digital Fortune magazine and Zero2ipo
Ltd.
Ms. Xu was also awarded
“The Most Outstanding Female Staff” at Bank of China Head Office.
Ms. Xu graduated from Nanjing University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and is qualified as a UK
Certified Public Accountant.
She speaks fluent English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Hugo Shong, Senior Vice President of International Data Group (IDG), President of IDG-Asia, and Vice
Chairman/General Partner of IDG Technology Venture Investment (IDGVC), has headed IDG's
operations in information technology (IT) publishing, market research and tradeshows in the Asia
Pacific region.
IDG is the world's leading IT media, research and exposition company with revenue of $3.01 billion
(2001) and 13,000 employees worldwide. IDG Asia has 60 IT-related newspapers and magazines in 16
Asian countries and regions with a total combined readership exceeding 20,000,000, produces 40
tradeshows in 2001, and operates 14 IDC research centers in the region.
Prior to joining IDG in November 1991, Mr. Shong has worked for three years at Cahners Publishing
Company as managing editor of Electronic Business China, Electronic Business Asia and EDN Asia
magazines. In June 1991, Mr. Shong was awarded the first prize for the best report on Chinese
Americans by the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA).
In 1993, Mr. Shong assisted Mr. Patrick J. McGovern, founder and chairman of IDG to launch Pacific
Technology Venture Fund in China (now re-named IDGVC), which has about $200 million under
management in China.
Mr. Shong completed Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program (AMP) in the fall of
1996. He conducted graduate studies at the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy 1987-88 and earned
a Master of Science degree from Boston University's College of Communication in 1987. In China, he
completed graduate studies in journalism at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social
Sciences in 1986 and graduated with a B.A. degree in 1981 from Hunan University.
Li Wan Shou

Dr. Li Wan Shou was born in Hubei Province in Sept. 1963. He completed his undergraduate studies in
Philosophy at Wuhan University. He continued his graduate education in Community Studies at
Zhongshan University. And now he holds a doctor degree in Management from Xi'an Jiaotong
University.
From 1986 to 1999, Dr. Li served at Shenzhen Municipal Planning Bureau, where his final and highest
rank was "assistant to the director of the bureau". From Jan. to Aug. 1999, Dr. Li was the deputy head
of the preparatory team for Shenzhen Venture Capital Fund. Since Aug. 1999, Dr. Li has been vice
president with Shenzhen Venture Capital Co. Ltd. (SZVC). In addition, he is also chairman of Shenzhen
VC Management Consulting Co. Ltd., Director and general manager of SZVC UOB Venture
Management Co. Ltd., vice chairman of China International Hi-Tech Equity Exchange Center of
Shenzhen, and vice chairman of Shanghai Venture Capital Co. Ltd.
Since SZVC's inception, Dr. Li has been in charge of company departments such as Fund
Management Dept., Risk Control Committee, Intl' Business Dept., Direct Investment Dept. and
Research & Planning Dept. In addition to his responsibility for assisting the president in managing the
investment of dozens of deals specialized in information, bio-technology and new materials, Dr. Li
played an active role in the foundation of Shenzhen VC Management Consulting Co. Ltd., SZVC UOB
Venture Management Co. Ltd. and Shanghai Venture Capital Co. Ltd. At present, Dr. Li was engaged
in negotiating with potential investors from Taiwan, USA, Britain and Germany for cooperation in
forming new funds. He has established close working relationships with counterparts home and
abroad.
Weijian Shan

Weijian Shan is a partner of Newbridge Capital, which, together with its affiliates, is a leading private
equity firm focusing on buyouts in Asia.
Prior to joining Newbridge, he was Managing Director of J P Morgan for five years and was a professor
at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania for six years.
His earlier employers include
the World Bank, the University of International Business & Economics in Beijing and Graham & James
Law Firm in San Francisco, among others.
Mr. Shan is a member of the Board of Directors of Korea First Bank (Kospi listed), Bank of China
(HKSE listed), China Unicom (NYSE listed) and Baosteel (SHSE listed), among others.
Mr. Shan received three graduate degrees from American schools including a PhD from the University
of California, Berkeley.
