EXAM SURVIVAL KITS
For those new to the Roanoke College community, Survival Kits are boxes filled
with snacks (some healthy and some junkie) that parents, faculty members or staff
can purchase for their students to help them during the stress of studying for exams!
Fruit, crackers, chex mix, candy, homemade cookies, juice and “brain food”
(airheads and dum dums) fill the boxes. Each year we call on faculty, staff and
spouses to help us with the cookie baking and box stuffing! NOT FOR WOMEN
ONLY! We’ll take all the help we can get. We usually need to “create”
approximately 375 kits! Using homemade cookies and volunteers to assemble helps
keep the price per kit affordable.
SURVIVAL KITS ARE ASSEMBLED ON APRIL 25 (Monday)
*Note* Survival Kits fall right after Easter. Don’t forget to bring your cookies in
on
the following day: Monday
NEEDED:
Cookie bakers
Kit assemblers
Kit distributors
WHERE: Pickle Lounge--Please have your cookies there by 9:00A.M.
WHEN: Monday, April 25; come any time, 9:00A.M. until finished (2:00?).
See the “Help” form for you to fill out & return. The recipe for the Toll House
cookie bars is on the package of chocolate morsels. Please have the toll house bars
CUT. You should get 30 – 35 cookies from a jellyroll pan.
The recipe for oatmeal cookies is found on the Quaker Oats box. I will send the
recipe for the peanut butter cookies if you choose to bake those. (It is also in the
Fortnightly Club Cookbook.) Bag two/bag, if you have time!
NO NUTS, PLEASE!
WHY NOT ORDER A KIT FOR A FAVORITE STUDENT!
Or donate one to a needy or international student. Kits are $15.00 each, checks
payable to The Fortnightly Club. Send them to Linda Miller, Archives. Or, call me
to place an order by credit card. Frantic phone calls or e-mails to
[email protected] are also welcome!
Additional donations go to The Fortnightly Club Endowed Scholarship;
Recipients this year: Sarah Ahlbrand, Alexandra Alli, Kelsey Daniel
