Application NOW OPEN for the Iowa Non-communicable Chronic Diseases Research Training Program in
Romania
The Center for Health Policy and Public Health, Babes‐Bolyai University Cluj-Napoca (CHPPH) announces
the launch of a call for 5 scientific writing awards of $5000 each. The “Iowa Non‐communicable Chronic
Diseases Research Training Program in Romania”, coordinated by Iowa College of Public Health and Center
for Health Policy and Public Health, is designed to train Romanian researchers in the prevention and
management of non-communicable chronic diseases (cancer, cerebrovascular diseases, lung disease,
obesity, environmental and lifestyle factors).
The proposed awards are envisaged to:
•
Expand the RO-CDIRT network by recruiting up to three entry-level researchers to work with
which each former RO-CDIRT trainee applying for this call for proposals, in developing and submitting
NCDs-based systematic review articles,
•
Enhance the publication outputs of former RO-CDIRT trainees, by offering scientific writing
training and financial support to former RO-CDIRT trainees and their new teams,
•
Increase the scientific visibility of former RO-CDIRT trainees in their field of interest and work.
The awardees will have to publish a NCDs-based systematic review or an original article on their topic of
interest (which may or may not overlap with the topic of their finalized or current pilot projects funded
through RO-CDIRT) and will benefit from: two scientific writing trainings and editing services for the
developed articles.

Former trainees of the Iowa Non‐communicable Chronic Diseases Research Training Program in Romania
Selection:
Selection is carried out on the basis of the application submitted by each candidate (please see application
outline below).
