Best Western Hotel
600 Highway 7 East, Richmond Hill, ON
Target Markets/Reasons:
Business and leisure travelers are the target market for this hotel in Richmond Hill. The hotel is
newly renovated and is close to many attractions such as the Toronto Zoo and Canada’s Wonderland.
There are 30 meeting rooms where meetings can be taken place along with conferences in the largest
room that fits 1,200 people. Leisure travelers have many facilities such as the 25,000 square feet fitness
centre that helps them stay fit at their stay. Leisure travelers get discounts and special offers while they
are staying at the Best Western Hotel. The reason why the target markets are leisure and business
travellers is because in Richmond Hill there needs to be a place for meetings to occur and sometimes
family comes along and they are entertained staying at the Best Western Hotel.

Facilities:
Best Western Hotel has an indoor pool, a spa tub, a fitness facility, and a seasonal outdoor pool.
Business amenities and facilities at this 3 star hotel include a business center, meeting rooms, and
business services. Plus, you can enjoy your night indoors at the hotel’s restaurant and bar/lounge. The
staff can arrange concierge services and tour assistance. Additional amenities include an arcade/game
room, multilingual staff, and self-parking. Best Western Hotel has 127 guestrooms. Televisions are
equipped with cable channels, video-game consoles, and pay as you go movies. Guestrooms provide
complimentary newspapers, voice mail, and direct-dial phones with local calls. Guestrooms feature
microwaves, refrigerators, and coffee/tea makers. Bathrooms offer hair dryers and complimentary
toiletries. Additional amenities include: climate control, air conditioning, and desks. In addition,
housekeeping is offered and amenities available on request include wake-up calls. Rollaway beds are
also now available.
Match 3 Services:
Best Western Hotel offers premier rooms with 25 inch televisions, in room movies and video
games, voice mail, microwave, coffee and tea maker, iron and iron board, hairdryer, in room air
conditioning, desk work area, wake-up calls, alarm clock, easy chair, and new white duvets.
In deluxe rooms Best Western offers 25 inch televisions, new white duvets, sofa beds, direct
dial telephone, wake-up calls, microwave, hairdryer, desk and work area, tea and coffee maker,
refrigerator, room service from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, free high speed internet access, newspaper, in
room video games, music and TV internet, and cable or satellite.
Best Western also offers one bedroom suite with a 25-inch television, cable or satellite
television, in room movies, in room video games, music, TV internet, free high-speed internet access,
data ports, and rollaway beds are now available which costs $25.00 (CAD) per night. Some more

things offered in the Best Western one bedroom suite is: Voice mail, refrigerator, microwave,
coffee/tea maker, free local calls under 30 minutes, long-term efficiency suites, kitchen, living area,
hairdryer, wake-up calls, room service from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, newspaper, air conditioning, easy
chair, new white duvets, video billing and balcony available. As you can see all of these rooms are
properly equipped for a business person who is traveling to attend conventions and meetings.
Hotel Promotion:
Hotels generally have two types of discount coupons and promotions. Discount coupons are
actually coupons that you have to click through or know the code to redeem. Promotions are the deals
that are available to anyone who happens to catch it while they are staying at the hotel. But, the
downside of promotions is that those who know about them may first fill up the entire hotel’s space.
Some promotions that Best Western offers are:
New Years Day - On New Years Day, Best Western offers a special buffet for about $15 per person
with everything from fresh fruits to pancakes, sandwiches, and much more.
Special Winter Offer - Best Westerns special winter offer allows clients to book and stay for 3 nights
and only pay 2 nights. Also you get 33% reduction on the total room rate. This promotion is valid for
all reservations booked directly and matching following criteria:

Minimum 3 nights stay

Arriving on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday in December 2010 (excluding 26, 27, and 28)

Arriving any day of the week in January, February, or March 2011

Maximum 3 rooms per reservation
Spring Promotion - The Spring Promotion is when you complete two separate
experienced stays between February and March and you can earn double rewards.
Casino Promotion - If you ask for the Stay & Play Package when you pre book your room with Best
Western you will enjoy: discounted casino rate and shuttle service from hotel to Casino Regina and

back. Then you will only have to pay $15 and you play with a $30 gaming coupon, and you get a $5.00
food and beverage coupon for the Casino, two for one ticket to the show at the Casino Regina Show
Lounge, and also additional gaming and dining coupons on day two for the Casino Restaurant.
Delta Hotel

Target Markets/Reasons:
The biggest target market for the Delta Hotel is business travelers and leisure travelers. The
reason why they are the biggest target market is because a lot of meetings and conventions take place in
Markham and sometimes the business traveler has to bring there family as well, so staying at the Delta
provides great entertainment for families. This is one of the hotel’s that has 10,000 feet worth of space
for meetings and conferences that are held in the hotel by business travelers. Delta has trained a group
of people who call themselves the Delta Meeting Maestros that help prepare meetings that are taking
place in the hotel. For the leisure travelers, there are many facilities such as the recreation centre, which
includes a swimming pool and fitness centre that helps travelers stay fit while they are staying at the

Delta Markham hotel. Children are provided with their own check-in cards so they can experience
having their own card to open their room while they stay at the Delta Hotel. Front desk staff is always
available to help with information on finding family attractions nearby.
Facilities:
At the Delta Hotel guestrooms feature either one king or two queen Delta sanctuary beds or sofa
beds, and all rooms are equipped with complimentary internet access, mini fridge, and working desk, in
room pay at you go movies, and video games. They also offer a coffee maker and provide guests with
an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, sauna, and a fitness center which are available everyday. Delta
Hotel has regular and standard suites and has many meeting spaces. The size of the room varies
between 400-450 square feet. This hotel is also conveniently placed 25 minuets from Toronto Pearson
International Airport. There is also free accommodation for children under 17 staying with a parent or
guardian.
Match 3 Services:
In Premier Rooms Delta offers their guests either one or two queen beds with a luxurious pillow
and white striped bedding. It also includes a 32 inch LCD television, voice mail, in room pay as you go
movies, video games, small fridge, coffee and tea maker, iron and iron board, duvet, hairdryer, alarm
clock, two bathrobes, high speed wireless internet, sitting area, make up mirror for ladies and a shaving
mirror for men, IPod docking station, in room air conditioning and a business chair and desk for
business guests in their rooms.
In Deluxe Rooms Best Western offers guests with 32 inch LCD television, movies and video
games, small fridge, coffee and tea maker, iron and iron board, hairdryer, two bathrobes, high speed
internet, in room air conditioning, working desk, and ergonomic chair and sitting areas.

In a One Bedroom Suite Delta offers the guests queen sanctuary bed with a designer
cummerbund and accent pillow, high speed internet access, mini fridge, ergonomic chair and working
areas with a working desk, a 32 inch LCD TV, voice mail, coffee and tea maker, in room movies with
video games, microwave, alarm clock, iron and ironing board, duvet, cordless telephone, hairdryer,
complimentary local and 800 local access charges, sitting area, Jacuzzi, make up and shaving mirror,
business desk and business amenities, air conditioning, a cured shower rods with waffle shower
curtains and a evening service with mini bars and a wet bar area. As you can see all of these rooms are
properly equipped for a business person who is traveling to attend conventions and meetings.
Hotel Promotion:
At the Delta Hotel in Markham they have many catered events, dinners, lunches, brunches and
children’s parties priced to your budget while staying at the Delta Hotel. Some promotions that the
Delta Hotel offers are:
New Years Eve Dinner Buffet - The New Years Eve Dinner Buffet occurs on Friday, December 31,
2010 and it is $36 per person. Reservations are recommended to make sure you get a spot.
New Years Eve Bed and Breakfast Package - This includes New Years Eve accommodation and
breakfast for two. It is $150 per couple.
New Years Day - This includes extended breakfast buffet featuring all of your favourites from fresh
fruit to eggs and it takes place from 7am - 12:30pm and costs $15 per person.
Daily Christmas Luncheon Buffet - Monday through Friday Dec 8-10, Dec 13-17, and Dec 20-24. It
occurs from 11:30 am - 2:00am, and costs $21 per person.
Christmas Eve Dinner - The Christmas Eve Dinner occurs on Friday, December 24, 2010 and costs
$36 per person.
Christmas Day Festive Buffet - This occurs on Saturday, December 25, 2010. The seating is at
12:00pm, 3:00pm and 6:00pm and it costs $40 per person and $20 per child under 12.

How We Presented Ourselves:
Our group presented ourselves very well. We were prepared with questions to ask and we were
very well mannered, and in proper business attire. We visited the Delta Hotel first in Markham and we
observed the lobby area and the public washrooms. We didn’t see any bell staff or concierge but we
talked to the front desk manager named Matthew. He didn’t seem very helpful and was really rushing
us, but he did tell us that the Deltas Star Rating is 4 and that the Hotel services Business, Corporate and
Leisure travellers. He also told us about the pool, fitness center and meeting spaces that are at the hotel
and that they have 204 rooms.
After the Delta Hotel we visited the Best Western Hotel in Richmond Hill and we observed the
lobby area and public washrooms. Again, we didn’t see any bell staff or concierge but we talked to a
front desk manager named Evan. He was very helpful and seemed delighted to talk to us. He told us
about the enormous gym they have at Best Western and the type of guests that stay at the hotel which
are: Business, Corporate, and Leisure. He also told us that this hotel was independently owned and
branded along wish Sheridan Hotel right beside Best Western. He also told us about the 2 indoor pools
and 1 outdoor pool and he told us that they are a 3 star hotel.
Hotel Career Discussion:
We think we would want to work in a hotel because it seems very interesting. Being at the front
desk we would have lots of communication with lots of different people on a day to day basis and we
don’t think the job would be boring. Some of careers you could have at the Delta Hotel are: Guest
Agent, Bell Person, Accounts Receivable Clerk, Banquet Captain, Night Auditor, Pool Attendant and
Night Cleaner. At the Best Western Hotel some careers you could have include the following:
Accounting, Administration, Bartender, Bell Person, Cook, Front Desk, Night Audit and House
Keeper.

Group Function:
Our group functioned very well. We all planned, participated and contributed equally to the
project. Also everyone was on time when meeting up to work on the project. Everyone submitted there
part by the due dates we set for each other. Sandra V put the project together, completed the part on
how we presented ourselves, the hotel career discussion, and group function. Tamana O completed the
match 3 services for both hotels, Janivia S completed the target markets for both hotels, Ghida Z
completed the facilities for both hotels, and Deena H completed the promotion for both hotels.
