Notice that you are very welcome to write this report in Dutch even if the template is written
in English.
Further notice that the maximum page limit for this report is 2 (shorter is better; quality is
more important than quantity).
Replace <number> and <name> above with your team number and name (you find your
number on the course website under “teams”)
Fill out the table under “1. Individual team members.” “Hours” should contain the hours
spent by the team member according to the logbook status at the day you sent this report to
your tutor. “Comments” should contain important information such as low working hours
due to sickness, etc.
Discuss with your team members what you have achieved so far and answer the questions
under “2. Evaluation of project status.”
Discuss with your team members how well you have worked together as a team so far and
answer the questions under “3. Evaluation of team work.”
Based on the evaluation of your current status, think about the prospects and answer the
questions under “4. Project prospects.”
Delete all unnecessary information such as this instruction and the text below that is written
in italic (if you haven’t done so already).
Create a PDF file of your report, name it “team<number>_midtermreport.pdf” (with
<number> = your team number).
1. Individual team members:
Student ID
Name
Hours
Comments
2. Evaluation of project status:
What is the current status of the project?
Write a few comments about your status so far in relation to what you have planned. Did
you achieve everything that you have planned till now? Or did you achieve less? Or maybe
more?
What worked better than planned or expected?
Write a few comments about the positive aspects of your work. For example: What was
easier than expected? What went very well?
What worked worse than planned or expected?
Write a few comments about the negative issues of your work. For example: Were there any
unforeseeable problems? Did you underestimate certain issues? Etc.
3. Evaluation of team work
How would you rate your teamwork (on a scale from 1 = horrible to 10 = perfect)?
You might consider making an anonymous vote among all team members before coming up
with a rating.
What went particularly well? What parts of the team work did you enjoy?
Write a few comments about the positive aspects. While doing so, also try to think about
why it went well, why you enjoyed it, etc., and how that experience could be applied to the
parts of the cooperation that didn’t go that well (cf. next question).
What went badly? What parts were frustrating? What has to improve?
Write a few comments about the negative issues that you experienced. Similarly to the
previous question, also try to think about why it went badly, why you didn’t enjoyed it, etc.,
and what you could do to avoid these problems and frustrations.
4. Project prospects:
What are potential areas where you should improve?
Write a few comments on what actions will be required in order to finish the project
successfully. This should include everything that is essential for delivering in time. Mention
everything related to the actual project (e.g. will you achieve your goals or do you need to
revise them, are there any potential issues with the technology that you should solve soon,
etc.) as well as issues related to teamwork and project management.
What are potential areas where you could improve?
Brainstorm a little about what else you could do. Again, this can include issues related to
teamwork and project organization, as well as the actual project (e.g. if everything went well
so far, maybe you are not aiming high enough and you should revise your goals to be more
ambitious?).
Do you have a backup plan incase you are running into problems (and will it work?)
Hopefully, you had a backup plan from the very beginning. But based on your experience
from the first half of the project, you might see things a little different now. Review it and
ask yourself if it is still reasonable or not. Then answer this question. Technically, a simple
“yes” or “no” is sufficient. In the latter case however you’d better start working on a revised
version. You can include that into this report or in a revised design document that is due
after the midterm presentations (cf. website).
