Define Muscle Fibres

Muscles, being the useful parts of your body they are, are composed of muscle
fibers. These fibers are long, multi-nucleated muscle cells, also known as the
myofibers. They are required to convert the chemical energy so that you would be
able to move. These fibers are arranged parallel to one another, which are lengthy.
They are surrounded by connective tissues, while blood vessels, motor neurons,
and other kinds of nerves are placed in the middle of the bundles. The bundles
contain fibers such as the slow twitch and the fast twitch.
There are different muscle fiber types. Type I muscle fibers are those that are
called the slow twitch or the slow oxidative fibers, which contain large amount of
myoglobin, mitochondria, and of course, blood capillaries. These fibers have a
slow contraction velocity, thus they are resistant to fatigue. These fibers are found
in some postural muscles of a person's neck. Also, these fibers are the ones we use
for walking, those activities that require low intensity work. The next one, type II
muscle fibers, have two subgroups-the type II A and type II B. Type II A muscle
fibers are also known as the fast twitch or fast oxidative fibers. They also contain
large amounts of myoglobin, mitochondria, and blood capillaries. However, they
have a fast contraction velocity. This type of fibers is seldom found in humans.
While the other one, type II B, or the fast glycotic fibers, contain low amount of
myoglobin, mitochondria, large amount of glycogen and just few blood capillaries.
While the other types of fibers are red, type II B fibers are white, which are not
resistant to fatigue. These fibers are found in muscles in the arms, thus they have
fast contraction velocity.

When you do various activities, your muscle fibers could generate changes in
them, like transforming type II B to type II A fibers. This happens when for
example, you do endurance exercises such as swimming, running, weight lifting, or
other complex training. When you engage in these activities, you produce an
increase in your fibers' size.
In order to keep your muscles at their best, you should learn how to maintain them,
by exerting effort on things that you do so they would gain more strength, thus
more endurance. Also, it is best to find your fiber muscle type so you would know
how to train properly, given that there are specific types of exercises you must do
in order to maintain them. You should not just take them for granted, because you
never know what might happen.
To summarize, training your fiber muscles according to their type is very
important. It gives you better results and would make you a physically stronger
person.
