Igneous rocks are formed from molten (melted) rock that
has cooled and become solid.
Intrusive rocks are igneous rocks that solidify (become
solid rock) beneath the Earth’s surface.
Extrusive rocks are igneous rocks that solidify when it
comes to the surface and spills out onto the land.
Metamorphic means “changed”. These rocks change from
one kind of rock to another. This change is brought about
when the rock is exposed to heat and or pressure.
Metamorphic rocks never totally melt.
Metamorphic rocks are formed from a source rock. That is
what the rock is originally.
The morph rock is what it changes into.
