Analysis of demand, supply, production costs, market structures, and resource
allocation. Current economic policies and problems and other special topics such
as government regulation, income distribution, and labor economics. (Core B)

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:







Define basic economic terms such as utility, marginal cost, oligopoly, etc.
Identify major thinkers and theorists in the field and their contributions in
the history of the discipline
Analyze problems using demand and supply diagrams
Relate elasticity, utility and costs of production to explain the shapes of
demand and supply curves
Identify the major characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages of the
different types of market structures
Demonstrate an understanding of the scope and direction of U.S. anti-trust
activity
Outline factor price determination for wages, rent, profits, and interest
