‘Revealing Yeshua’ Gems in Job Creation If we place the Book of Job at the beginning of the Bible, in fact taking place ‘during’ the Book of Genesis, then it is not surprising that Job is so aware of creation. Or is it? How did he know that YHWH Elohim created the earth and the animals when so few acknowledge that today? Job 9:7-9 ‘Who commands the sun, and withholds its light? And sets a seal round the stars. Who alone arched the heavens, and treads on the cloudy heights? Who makes Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the hidden spaces of the south.’ Note that ‘cloudy heights’ may be translated as ‘heights (waves) of the sea’ but seems to break up the sequence of thought according to Bullinger. Bullinger comments that Arcturus (Hebrew ‘Ash’) is derived from the Arabic ‘Al Naish’ meaning ‘the Assembled’ and so he names Arcturus ‘the fold’. This bright star has come down to us with the name ‘Bear’ which in Hebrew sounds similar to ‘a fold’. Bullinger states that no bear is found in the ancient zodiacs, nor does the bear have a long tail. Further details may be found in his book ‘The Witness of the Stars’. Orion (Hebrew: kesil) is the ‘Strong One’. The origin may be in the Hebrew ‘or’ meaning ‘light’. The ancient Akkadian name was ‘Ur-and’ meaning ‘the light of heaven’. Pleiades (Hebrew: Kimah) probably means ‘the congregation or Assembled’. The Syriac name is ‘Succoth’ meaning ‘booths’. It seems that God Himself spoke to Job on the subject of creation. We would do well to remember this when we are feeling arrogant or sorry for ourselves. God simply asks where Job was when He created the earth! How can one answer? Job 38:4-6 ‘Where were You when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if you know and understand! Who fixed its measurements, (if you will know)? or who has stretched the line on it? On what were its foundations made to rest? Or who laid its corner stone?’ God also created the animals – the beasts of the earth, the birds of the air and the fish of the sea. Job acknowledges this. Job 12:7-9 ‘But ask now the beasts and they shall teach you; and the birds of the heavens, and they shall tell you. Converse with the earth and it will speak: and the fishes of the sea will tell the same. Who knows not by every one of these, that it is the hand of YHWH that does this?’ Job acknowledges that God created man too. Note that he uses the name ‘Eloah’ for God. Job 27:3 ‘So long as breath remains in me, and in my nostrils is the breath of Eloah.’ References: 1. God’s Book of Faith, Meditations from Job. Herbert Lockyer. Thomas Nelson Publishers. 2.
