Robert Gluck is a graduate of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College (Rabbi, MHL),
Yeshiva University's Wurzweiler School of Social Work (MSW), and Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute (MFA). He studied at the Julliard School of Music, and is a University
of Albany alumnus (BA, 1977). Gluck has been a faculty member in the University of
Albany Music department since 1999, serving as Director of the Electronic Music studio,
and starting in Fall semester, a faculty member in the Judaic Studies Department.
Rabbi Gluck has served as a senior staff member in the Jewish Reconstructionist
movement, including a tenure as Executive Director of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical
Association, and as a congregational rabbi. His published writings address a wide range of
topics relating to Jewish communal life, most notably spousal abuse, and issues relating to
Jewish music. An area of current interest is Jewish music of the Ottoman Empire. He is an
active composer and electronic music performer; his most recent musical recording,
'Stories Heard and Retold' was released in 1998. Rabbi Gluck is the recipient of a 1995
Rabbinic Service Award from the Council of Jewish Federations, and a 2001 Founders
Award of Excellence at RPI's Honors Convocation.
