Human Resources Department and the Marin County Department of Health and
Human Services are accepting applications for the position of Detention
Registered Nurse, Extra Hire.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2 face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><STRONG><U>CURRENT
VACANCY:</U></STRONG> We currently have extra hire positions available
for coverage and relief of nursing staff. Extra hire candidates must be
available to work all shifts (Day Shift: 7AM-3PM, PM Shift: 3PM-11PM, and
Night Shift: 11PM-7AM). Must be available for at least 4 weekend shifts
per month.</FONT> </P>

<h2>Position Information</h2>
<div>
<P><FONT size=2 face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Marin County
Detention Health Services provides health care to the incarcerated of
Marin County within the Adult and Juvenile facilities. Detention Health
Services is a health care delivery program managed by the Public Health
Division of Marin County Health and Human Services. Services provided
operate under the Title 15 Guidelines for Jails and Prisons, as developed
by the California Standards Authority, California Department of
Corrections and Rehabilitation. The Detention Registered Nurse provides
direct patient assessment, evaluation; provides and directs care and
treatment, and manages the execution and evaluation of those plans. This
includes provision of acute and chronic nursing services in booking
receiving and housing areas. Patients’ may have complicated histories of
Chronic Illness, Mental Illness, and or Poly-Substance Abuse Disorders.
Nurses must have the ability to work within the correctional setting,
work in collaboration with Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Mental
Health, Social Services, and other community providers. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2 face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><STRONG><U>THE IDEAL
CANDIDATE:</U></STRONG> The ideal candidate must show competence in the
areas of computer skills, use of a computer on a daily basis to document
medication delivery, patient treatment information, and have the ability
to access other applicable databases or county programs.
Additionally,written and oral communication skills should be excellent.
They should have excellent judgment and decision making skills and should
be able to serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team. They should be
able to work in a high volume, fast paced work environment and have
flexibility to adapt to changes in routine and schedules as
needed.</FONT> </P>

<h2>Minimum Qualifications</h2>
<div>
<P><FONT size=2 face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Typically,
equivalent to one year of professional nursing experience, and the
education necessary to practice nursing. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT size=2 face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><STRONG><U>LICENSES
AND CERTIFICATES:</U></STRONG> Possession of a valid California
Registered Nurse license. Possession of a current CPR certificate.

<h2>Testing Schedule</h2>

<P><FONT size=2 face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">Qualified
applicants will be referred directly to the department for interviews.
Applicants are encouraged to apply early. This recruitment will close at
any time once a sufficient number of acceptable applications have been

<P><FONT size=2 face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><STRONG><U>BACKGROUND
INVESTIGATION:</U></STRONG> <STRONG>Successful applicants will be subject
to a thorough and rigorous background investigation which may include,
but is not limited to, a criminal records check, interviews with friends,
relatives, neighbors and employers; verification of DMV records; and
overall employment and education history. An applicant may be
disqualified for past criminal convictions, poor driving record,
providing false background information, and other reasons.

<P><FONT size=2 face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><STRONG><U>DRUG USE
STANDARDS:</U></STRONG> No use of any illegal drug in the past three
years. No felony drug use (e.g. cocaine, amphetamines, etc.) in the past
five years. No hallucinogenics ever. No intravenous drug use or drug
sales ever. Applicants successful in testing will be given a polygraph
examination and/or computerized voice stress analysis and will be asked
about illegal drug use. <A
