Archetypes Unit Project
The Task
This is a final unit project designed to combine the three main
elements of the Archetype unit into one clear and cohesive project. Using
your vast movie or literary background, you will pick two character
archetypes, one situational archetype and a minimum of two symbolic
archetypes all from separate sources and blend them all into a cohesive
idea, creating either a movie poster or a scene from a movie.
Character Archetype –
Your first move is to choose
two character archetypes.
They can be friends, enemies or
somewhere in between. Once you have determined which types of
archetypes to use you must choose who they will be. You may
choose anyone, real or fictional, alive or dead. Remember the
weight is on you to make sure the relationship between your
characters is believable.
Situational Archetype –
Your next move is to
choose one situational archetype. Remember this is a situation
you would like to see your two characters have to deal with.
Certain characters will lend themselves to certain situations more
easily than others.
Symbolic Archetype –
Your last decision is to choose
a minimum of two symbolic archetypes to help you achieve this
goal. Remember, the symbolic archetypes cover everything from
colors and shapes to locations. These archetypes are crucial for
helping set tone as well as reinforcing your idea.

(B) Creative –
Create a movie poster (no white space)
depicting your archetypal story. Every element needs to be well thought
out and placed. Remember you need to depict the relationship of the
characters to each other as well as their relationship to the situation and
the symbols you have chosen. This can be done either digitally or on
poster board.
