Looking beyond Medicine’s ‘comfort zone’ M Dr. Lotze’s Newsletter 2005-07 Insights, Opinions, News and Wellness Solutions Flaxseed Oil: to be taken with care ! Bird Flu: a pandemic scam ? It seems a fashionable substance to treat joint pain, arthritis, constipation and many other ailments. People following the present Flaxseed-Hype are not aware that flaxseed contains traces of cyano-glycoside linamarin and immature seeds grown in warm climates have high concentrations of this substance (related to cyanide). As you don’t know where exactly the seeds are grown from which the oil is made, flaxseed oil has to be taken with care, and certainly not for a prolonged period of time. If flaxseed oil is taken continuously, Cyano-glycosides may cause an increased respiratory rate, excitement, gasping, staggering, weakness, paralysis and convulsion. The latest bird-flu hoax seems to generate billions of dollars for some pharmaceutical companies. Government of a country (I am not naming it) spreads fear by publicizing that, if the avian flu pandemic reaches this country, maybe 200.000 people will die, but even 2 million deaths could be expected. That is step one. Step two follows by the pharmaceutical giant Gilead manufacturing 20 million doses of ‘Tamiflu’, a vaccine that hasn’t been tested yet, - but it will generate 2 billion Dollars in profits Dr. G. Spoerke, University of Utah School of Pharmacy, USA Mango, the happy fruit Mango contains loads of vitamins A, B3, B5, B6, C and E. As the sugar content of Mango is very low (between 0.1 and 0.5%) it is the ideal fruit for diabetics. Its high content of iron builds blood and helps people suffering from anaemia. High levels of magnesium and potassium relax muscles and counters any overacidity in the body. Potassium strengthens the heart muscle and is the ideal fruit for people with heart problems. Mango elevates the mood and is called the ‘happiness fruit’. Besides many other enzymes in the mango, the Tryptophan transforms in the brain into Serotonin, which is called the happiness hormone. The high content (13.5%) of L-Glutamine is a wonderful brain nourishment and is important for concentration and memory. Further it contains L-Arginine, Asparagine, Histidine, L-Isoleucine, L-Leucine, L-Phenylalaline, Proline, L-Threonine, Tyrosine and L-Valine. All these are great anti-stress amino acids. In India the Mango is regarded as a symbol of divine and unconditional love. 4000 B.C. Buddha praised the mango tree because of its longevity, when he rested in his shadow. Especially mango blossoms have a holy meaning, they symbolise abundance and divine sweetness. If not available fresh, use dried mangos and soak them overnight in water. Neurological, learning and behavioural problems are on the increase. Symptoms like headaches, migraines, low blood pressure, blood sugar rollercoaster, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Multiple Sclerosis Autism and ADHD have been linked to an elevated level of antibodies to wheat. Eliminating or at least reducing wheat products from the diet reduces wheat antibodies and alleviates all symptoms. Dr. O’Brian, Clinical Nutritionist. It’s the things in life you don’t do that you regret the most! On what basis has this bird-flu been declared as a probable pandemic (meaning spreading over the whole globe)? In Asia, where it has been discovered, there are approx. 3 billion people living, and so far 60 have died by contracting this avian-flu, and these 60 people were workers handling poultry every day. So the chance, that you get the bird-flu is 1 : 6,000,000,000. Media, fuelled by vested interests, are capable of creating a worldwide scare, which, in the end dissolves into thin air, but meanwhile the scam has worked and some billions of Dollars have been reaped in profits by manufacturing and selling vaccines. Here some facts: The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) asked the vaccine laboratories to guarantee that vaccines are safe and effective. The lab’s reply was: “All vaccines are highly toxic and cannot be made safe. They are often unstable and cannot be depended upon to prevent or cure diseases; therefore, they cannot be guaranteed, either for safety or effectiveness.” And another fact: U.S. Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfield, former Chairman of Gilead Laboratories, is still a major shareholder. Amazing: An epidemic of whooping cough swept the Netherlands in November 1997, after the Dutch government had proudly announced that 96% of the Dutch population had been vaccinated against this particular flu virus prior to its arrival. Time Magazine 19.01.98 Mercury as stabilizer in vaccines It is important to appreciate that mercury is a fat soluble metal. That is, it is stored in the body's fat. The brain contains 60 percent fat and therefore is a common site for mercury storage. Even so, a significant proportion of the mercury will enter the brain (it has been shown to easily pass through the blood-brain barrier) where it is stored in the phospholipids (fats). With each new dose -remember children are receiving as many as 22 doses of mercury stabilized vaccines -- another increment is added to the brain storage depot. Mercury is cumulative and poisons the brain. Pineapple fights cancer Fruit salad While analyzing bromelain, an extract of crushed pineapple, researchers found that two molecules isolated from the extract showed promise in fighting cancer growth: One molecule, known as CCS, blocks a protein called Ras, which is defective in approximately 30 percent of all cancers. The other, called CCZ, stimulates the body's own immune system to target and destroy cancer cells. Researchers discovered these two molecules work simultaneously to block the growth of a broad range of tumor cells including breast, lung, colon, ovarian and melanoma. And while CCS and CCZ are protease enzymes (usually associated with breaking down proteins, as in the digestive process, the above findings distinguish the molecules as a new way of treating disease and potentially a whole new class of anti-cancer agents. What's more, bromelain, a rich source of enzymes, has also been found to modulate immunological responses and has been proposed to be of clinical use. A simple experiment will show what fruit salad will do in your digestive tract. When In the peak of summer the outside temperature is 37oC and it’s humid, place a dish with fruit salad outside and next to it a dish with cutup mango or pawpaw or any other fruit, but only one type of fruit. After about 2 hours you will notice that fruit salad starts fermenting, the cutup fruit just dehydrates and wilts. Same will happen in your intestines, which have the same condition, 37oC and humid. The fruit salad will start to ferment, which will mean bloated, toxins, fungi and even alcohol, but not a good quality one. So eating mixed fruit is of no benefit. Eat one type of fruit at a time, as much as you like, but do not mix fruit. HL BBC News July 22, 2005 Potential side effects of PROVERA Medroxyprogesterone Acetate (Progestin). Progestins or Progestons have nothing in common with Natural Progesterone. Whilst Natural Progesterone has got no negative side effects as in its molecular structure it is identical to the one made by the human body (hence ‘natural’), synthetically manufactured Progestins and Progestons, like in Provera, have an array of listed warnings, contraindications, precautions and adverse redactions, which are uncharacteristic of Natural Progesterone. Possible negative side effects of Progestins (Provera): Fluid retention, weight gain, depression, migraine, asthma, cardiac or renal dysfunction, breakthrough bleeding or menstrual irregularities, epilepsy. If used for a prolonged period of time it may have effects on pituitary gland, ovaries and adrenal glands as well as on liver and uterus. It can lead to acne, alopecia (hair loss), hirsutism, cervical erosions, insomnia, thrombophlebitis and pulmonary embolism. Source: Physician Desk reference 2000 Communication error A male patient, with an oxygen mask over nose and mouth, mumbles to the pretty nurse: “Are my testicles black?” The nurse embarrassed: “I don’t know”. The man mumbles again through his mask: “Are my testicles black?” The nurse finally lifts his gown and holds his private part with the one hand, whilst with the other hand she wiggles the testicles. She replies: “No, they are not black”. Now the man takes off his mask and mumbles: “That’s very nice, but now listen very carefully, are… my… test…results…back?” Chocolate prevents cardiovascular disease The chemicals known as flavanols, which are found in chocolate as well as in fruits and vegetables, can reverse smoking-related damage to blood vessels by boosting the levels of nitric oxide in the blood. This raises the possibility of a potential new treatment for cardiovascular disease. Those who drank cocoa containing as much as 185 mgs of flavanols experienced significant increases in circulating nitric oxide and flow-mediated dilation -- a definite improvement in function. Moreover, the benefits disappeared when patients were given a drug that interferes with nitric oxide signaling. Improved Blood Vessel Response Researchers compared the effect of flavanols on a dozen smokers participating in a double-blind study. Half were given a cocoa drink rich in flavanols, and the rest had a drink that tasted the same but had far fewer flavanols. The study, however, was designed specifically to identify the active ingredients, so the cocoa drink used was specially processed to retain much higher levels of flavanols than are typically found in commerciallyavailable cocoa drinks. Smokers Chosen to Test Cardiovascular Benefits Smokers were chosen for the study because their blood vessels tend to respond poorly to changes in blood flow, possibly related to impairments in how nitric oxide sends signals to the inner lining (the endothelium) of blood vessels, which is in turn a warning sign for cardiovascular disease. The study was not designed to find out whether flavanols could specifically protect smokers, but rather to investigate the effects of cardiovascular disease in general Journal of the American College of Cardiology October 4, 2005; 46(7): 1276-1283 Support Bacteria.
