Major events of World War II
Germany invaded Poland setting off war in
Europe. The Soviet Union also invaded
Poland and the Baltic nations.
Germany invade and defeat France after
capturing Paris.
Germany bombed London beginning the
Battle of Britain.
The United States gave Britain war supplies
and old warships in return for military
bases in the Caribbean and on Bermuda.
Japan Bombed Pearl Harbor
Germany and Italy declared war on the
United States which declared war on all
three nations.
The United States was victorious over
Japan at the Battle of Midway which was a
turning point in the Pacific portion of the
war.
Germany invaded the Soviet Union. The
Soviets defeated the invaders at Stalingrad,
marking the turning point of the war in
Europe
American and Allied troop landed in
Normandy, France on D-Day to begin the
liberation of Europe.
Italy and then Germany are defeated by
Allied troops.
The United States dropped two atomic
