The IUSY-APC Meeting focused on the threat of climate change in Asia-Pacific and the need for Green Governance in achieving
Climate Justice. As part of the program, the IUSY APC meeting participants had workshops on available Green Technologies
that help in mitigating climate change as well as on available Disaster Response and Risk Reduction Management Plans and
Policies within the region.
The IUSY APC also conducted a press conference as a side activity during the APC Meeting calling for justice for the victims of
the Pakistani School Massacre which happened just days before the APC Meeting. The media activity was covered by local
media.

The IUSY APC Meeting focused on the topic “World without borders and Freedom for All”, a critical topic in the region where
labor migration and human trafficking has led to various human rights abuses. Herein, there were workshops and sessions
on: (1) Understanding Forced Migration/World without Borders, (2) Forced migration in APC member countries, and (3)
Existing Interventions addressing forced migration. Facilitators from SSU also conducted a workshop on online and offline
campaigning. The participants also visited an NGO helping victims of human trafficking.
As part of the program, the IUSY APC also conducted a press conference on Climate Refugees --- an increasing phenomenon of
forced migration brought about by climate change. This is done parallel the ongoing COP 21 in Paris. The participants also
had an online campaign by putting up the #ClimateChangeStories facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ClimateChange-Stories-1550755018548057/?fref=ts).

There were various themes and activities, following the IUSY’s “15 Actions to Eradicate Poverty in 15 years”. As VP in Charge
of the environment portfolio and the Asia and the Pacific, I facilitated the Main Conference on the ENVIRONMENT with the
theme "Green Conversation for a Sustainable Development". I also facilitated the workshop tents on the topics: “Democracy
in Thailand” especially with the Martial Law being implemented presently in Thailand as well as the “Feminism Tent:
Reproductive Rights in Asia” with reproductive and sexual rights in Asia remaining a taboo issue, hence leading to the
persistence of child marriages, female genitalia mutilation, teenage pregnancy, among others. I also facilitated the Asia Pacific
Committee Tent which convened the participants from the region and discussed persisting issues in the Asia and the Pacific.
