fundamental unsolved problems of seismic imaging. For example, we are developing a method
for imaging reflectors correctly in depth beneath complex media without the necessity of an
accurate velocity model. We are also developing methods for inverting for earth properties in
areas where traditional AVO's simplifying assumptions fail or are inadequate, in particular in
structurally complex areas. These advanced mathematical techniques can make greater demands
on our seismic data than traditional ones. For this reason, we are also pursuing new methods of
wavelet estimation, deghosting, and data extrapolation.
