SAT Geometry Topics Group Presentations Number 1 Topic Parallel Lines 2 Angles and Lines 3 Basics of Triangles 4 Special Triangles and Trignometry 5 Polygons 6 Circles 7 Measurement Items to be Addressed - Types of Angles: corresponding, alternate interior, same-side interior, etc. - Relationships of angles - Definitions of different type of angles and lines: vertical, supplementary, complementary, perpendicular, straight, adjacent, etc. - May draw pictures to explain each - Midpoint, distance and slope formulas - Examples - Inequality theorems: Sum of any 2 sides > 3rd side and Largest angle opposite largest side, etc - Similar triangle proportions - Types of triangles definitions: acute, obtuse, right, scalene, etc - Sum of angles of Triangle - Exterior relationship to remote interior - Sin, Cos, Tan - Pythagorean Theorem - 45-45-90 Triangle - 30-60-90 Triangle - Make chart to show to get each - Characteristics of Parallelograms - Venn Diagram to organize characteristics - Definitions of trapezoid, isosceles trapezoid, regular polygons, etc - Definitions and Theorems regarding arcs, semi-circle, central angles, inscribed angles, tangent to a circle, etc. - Draw pictures to explain all relationships - Examples of inscribed and circumscribed circles and polygons - Show where perimeter formulas are on reference sheet - Show where area formulas are on reference sheet - Show where volume formulas are on reference sheet - Examples using perimeter, area, and volume formulas Rubric Criteria Coverage of Topic: necessary definitions, formulas, theorems, relationships, information is covered in presentation and on “cheat sheet”. Notes are placed on the board and explained to each group. Presentation: Knowledge of the topic is obvious. Students give complete explanations of examples and well as information about the topic Participation: All members participated Examples: Examples are appropriate for the topic, Examples are presented well Cheat Sheet: Necessary information on topic is included in a concise form. All sheets are to be handed in or shared via google doc to Ms. Grodziak prior to class. They should be on the appropriate topic and should include examples. Quiz Problems: Quiz problems should be handed in or shared via google doc to Ms. Grodziak. The problem should include the answer. TOTAL Points Earned Possible Points 15 10 5 10 5 5 50 SAT Geometry Presentations Goal: For you to review one geometry topic and present it to a small group. Requirements: Your assigned groups will pick one geometry topic. The chart explains specific topics you must include in your presentation and cheat sheet. Create a cheat sheet for the class on your topic with example problems. Provide me a copy for the class via hard copy or email. Review the examples and any important information in that topic and be ready to TEACH to a small group. Write out the QUIZ questions and share them with me via google drive or a hard-copy. You may use an SAT/ACT book or a geometry book for your source of information but the questions should replicate the questions similar to what we have done in class. Try to make it fun and interesting, just like you wish I could make it for you!!! BE CREATIVE
