Group Project Case Study Presentation Grading Rubric Posts learning resources for the class to review no later than the Monday preceding group’s presentation date Adequately covers topic content utilizing patient-specific scenario, includes: -Outline of (brief) pathophysiology of disease process OR discusses key principles of topic (as in case for emergency care group) -Disease-specific symptoms OR types of illnesses seen in area of care -Appropriate medications for disease management -Goals of therapy -Nursing interventions -Education for patient and family Specific group requirements: Respiratory Failure- Briefly discuss steps of endo-tracheal intubation and key principles to consider with MV (i.e. VAP prophylaxis, sedation) Renal Failure- discuss different types of dialysis (i.e. peritoneal, hemodialysis, and CRRT) CVA/Head Trauma- discuss current CVA protocols and principles of t-PA administration, briefly discuss ICP with head injuries Liver Failure/Substance Abuse- discuss CIWA protocol Emergency Care- discuss day to day triaging versus disaster/mass casualty Oncology- discuss more than one type of cancer, discuss principles of therapy (i.e. chemotherapy cocktails, radiation therapy, etc.) ACTIVELY involves class in presentation (either by having them answer specific case study questions, role playing appropriate interventions for patient care, playing quiz-like game, or some other creative interaction of group’s choosing) Presentation and product demonstrates equal contributions from all members (i.e. each group member must have an equal speaking 2 points 8 points 6 points 3 points portion during presentation) Presentation duration lasts at least 20 minutes (no longer than 30 minutes) 1 point 20 Points Total Please note that the instructor will not be held responsible for resolving problems encountered with group members. You are all adult learners and will soon be expected to independently engage in conflict resolution, which will incidentally be a critical skill you need to have as a strong nurse!
