• There are large ridges
of rocks that lead into
valleys
• It is known for its
industry, as well as
good farmland and
apple orchards

region in Georgia
• Located in the
northwestern corner of
the state
• There are plateaus as
well as valleys in this
area
• Nature fans visit to view
large waterfalls and rock
formations
Piedmont
• Begins in the mountains
foothills in north Georgia
and goes to the central
part of the state
• Largely made up of gently
sloping hills
• About one-half of the
state’s population lives in
the Piedmont
• Large rivers run through
it, making farming a large
industry
Coastal Plain
• The largest region of the
state
• There are two parts: the
Inner Coastal Plain and
the Outer Coastal Plain
• The Inner Coastal Plain is
the major agricultural
region of the state
• The Outer Coastal Plain
contains large areas of
swampland
Georgia’s Main Landforms
• Fall Line: where the Piedmont meets the Coastal Plain
• Okefenokee Swamp: North America’s largest swamp
• Appalachian Mountains: Georgia’s three northern
regions are part of these
• Chattahoochee River: Flows from the North Georgia
mountains south into the Gulf of Mexico
• Savannah River: Runs along Georgia’s border with
South Carolina
• Barrier Islands: chain of islands on Georgia’s coast

• The climate of Georgia is overall mild with a
subtropical feel along the coast
• We have 4 seasons, with generally comfortable
