BACK GROUND AND
JUSTIFICATION
The Malawi
Congress of Trade
Unions(MCTU) is the
union which has 22
affiliates from all
centers within the
country Malawi. It
has played a major
role in transforming
workers rights,
Decent jobs
,organizing etc. It
also works with the
civil societies,
Government and
employers on a
number of issues
which concerns all
parties. The MCTU
has done a number
of activities with the
funding from ILO
and other donors. It
has been involved in
amending some of
the bills within the
country and within
that the pension bill
which took a lot of
effort for the
government to
accept. The union is
NATURE OF
THE ACTION
Training,
Lobbying and
advocate on
Environmental
sustainability,
Climate
change and
effects on
labour.
OBJECTIVES
To make sure
there are
policies put in
place.
Incorporation
in CBAs
Trainings on
environmental,
Trade unions
climate change
and its
and its effects
sustainability

RESOURCES
IMPLEMENTATION EVALUATION
A total of
US$10, 000
will be
required to
fully
implement
the project.
This funds
will be
provided by
the national
centre.
-Human
resource
shall be
needed to
carry out
this activity
.ILO n civil
societies.
The project will be
implemented by
the Education
department, of
the MCTU.
The
evaluation
will take
place at the
end of June
2012.
