Divisiblility Rules
Divisible by 2
A number is divisible by 2 if it ends with a 2, 4, 6, 8 or 0.
Ex. 762 is divisible by 2, it ends with 2
911 is not divisible by 2, it does not end with 2, 4, 6, 8 or 0.
Divisible by 3
A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of its digits is divisible by 3.
Ex. 762 - 7 + 6 + 2 = 15, 15 is divisible by 3, so 762 is divisible by 3
911 - 9 + 1 + 1 = 11, 11 is not divisible by 3, so 911 is not div. by 3
Divisible by 4
A number is divisible by 4 if the last 2 digits of the number is divisible by 4.
Ex. 762 - 62 is not divisible by 4, so 762 is not div. by 4
920 - 20 is div. by 4, so 920 is div. by 4
Divisible by 5
A number is divisible by 5 if the last digit of is 5 or 0.
Ex. 762 - does not end with 5 or 0, so 762 is not div. by 5
920 - ends with 0, so 920 is div. by 5
Divisible by 6
A number is divisible by 6 if it is divisible by both 2 and 3.
Ex. 762 - 762 is divisible by 2 and 3 so 762 is divisible by 6.
832 - 832 is divisible by 2, 8 + 3 + 2 = 13, 13 is not div by 3 so
832 is not div. by 3, therefor 832 is not divisible by 6.
Divisible by 9
A number is divisible by 9 if the sum of its digits is divisible by 9.
Ex. 762 - 7 + 6 + 2 = 15, 15 is not div. by 9 so 762 is not div. by 9
1341 - 1 + 3 + 4 + 1 = 9, 9 is div by 9, so 1341 is div. by 9.
Divisible by 10
A number is divisible by 10 is the last digit is 0.
Ex. 762 - does not end with 0, so 762 is not divisible by 10.
2 470 - the last digit is 0, so 2 470 is divisible by 10.
