Summary: Advanced Connections Questions
1. Many flashlights use two D-cells. Are the D-cells used in series
or in parallel with the light bulb? Why?
a. Flashlights use series circuits because voltage adds, so
series D-cells provides more current, thus more light.
2. Would you recommend wiring strings of lights in series or
parallel? Why?
a. I would recommend parallel circuit to string lights
because all lights are bright, and when one goes out, all
the rest continue to get current.
3. Which schematic diagram represents circuit 1 on page 37?
a. Letter D represents circuit 1.
4. How would you describe circuit 1 in words?
a. Circuit 1 has two lamps and two D-cell in series.
5. Which schematic diagram represents circuit 2 on page 37?
a. Letter A represents circuit 2.
6. How would you describe circuit 2 in words?
a. Circuit 2 has two lamps in parallel with two D-cells in
series.
