The Progressive Era (1900-1914) grew out of the nation’s social, economic, and political problems created
during the Gilded Age by the Industrial Revolution. Progressives sought necessary reforms for problems
caused by the abuses of big business, the negative effects of industrialization, political corruption, slum life,
child labor, and the unfair treatment of women and other minorities.
