Multi-Genre Research Paper
Now that you have studied mythology from many different cultures,
you will be researching a god from Greek mythology who is connected
with the natural phenomenon that you researched at the beginning of
the semester. Below is a list of the gods and what phenomenon they
are related to. After you have researched one of the Gods above, you
will use your research on the God and your research on the
phenomenon to complete an assignment from each of the categories
below.
Zeus- Hurricanes
Zeus- Thunderstorms
Hades- Volcanoes
Hades- Earthquakes
Poseidon- Floods
Poseidon- Tsunamis
Helios- Sun
Category 1: Biography of the god
You will choose one of the genres listed below to present information
about your god. You need to give at least 5 facts about your god.
Think about explaining his role in the family of gods. Is he married or
have any children? What is his connection to the natural phenomenon
that you researched? Are there any myths about this God explaining
how something came to be?





Category 2: Explanation of the Natural Phenomenon
You will choose one of the genres listed below to present information
about your natural phenomenon. Earlier in the semester, you wrote
an expository essay about your phenomenon. Now you are going to
choose one of the genres below to present the same information. You
need to include 5 facts about your phenomenon. Think about
explaining how and why it forms. Where can this phenomenon be
found? What conditions must be present for it to form?





Category 3: Writing a Myth
For this last category, you will combine your research about your god
and your natural phenomenon to write your own myth. Your myth
should explain how your phenomenon came to be and how your god
was responsible or played a part. Choose one of the genres listed
below to tell the story of your myth. This is your chance to be
creative. So you can use your research as a foundation, but add your
own details just like in the myths we read in class.




