Word of Knowledge
•
What is it?
•
A word is a small fragment or a part of a sentence, so a word of knowledge is
a small fragment or part of knowledge concerning people, places, or things.
•
It is not “The gift of knowledge.” (there is no such thing). God
is all knowing and has all knowledge; we, however know in part (I
Corinthians 13:9).
•
Definition – It is a supernatural revelation by the Spirit of God
concerning FACTS in the mind of God concerning people, places, or things.
•
How does one receive a word of knowledge?
•
Inward revelation is the most common (still small voice)
•
Dreams and visions
•
Tongues & Interpretation, Prophecy
•
Angels or Audible Voice of God
•
John 4:16-19
•
How did Jesus know that the woman had 5 husbands? Facebook?
•
Notice this was a statement of Fact that was revealed to Jesus
by the Spirit (Brandon and shoulder)
•
II Kings 5:26 – Elisha had a word of knowledge concerning
Gehazi’s deception in taking money from Naaman.
•
Acts 10:19 “While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said
unto him, Behold, three men seek thee…” (This scripture should motivate us
to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit better. Imagine if all you heard was God’s
voice and His voice was the only thing you spoke…where would you be in
life?)
Word of Wisdom
•
What is it?
•
A word is a small fragment or a part of a sentence; therefore word of wisdom
is a small fragment or part of wisdom.
•
It is one of the 3 gifts of the Spirit that reveal something.
Many times, you will find this gift in operation in conjunction with the Word
of Knowledge.
•
It is not the gift of wisdom. God is all wisdom, but man
receives wisdom from God in part (we are ever learning, coming to the
knowledge of the truth.)
•
Definition – It is a supernatural revelation by the Holy Spirit
concerning the divine purpose in the mind and will of God; it is a revelation
concerning the plan and purpose of God. (Word of knowledge deals with
facts, present & past; however, Word of Wisdom always speaks of the future.)
•
How does one receive a Word of Wisdom?
•
Inward revelation is the most common. (Still small voice)
•
Dreams and Visions
•
Tongues and Interpretation, Prophecy
•
Angels or Audible Voice of God
•
Acts 19:10-16
•
Verse 11 – Word of Knowledge (facts)
•
Verses 15-16 – Word of Wisdom (deals with future)
•
Acts 21:10-14
•
•
Word of Wisdom brings guidance, direction, and warnings concerning the
future.
•
Matthew 2:11-13 (wise men warned of future in a dream;
Joseph was warned in a dream to stay in Egypt until he received word from
God again.)
•
Pay attention to your dreams.
Discerning of Spirits
•
What is it?
•
It is a supernatural gift that gives insight into the spirit world: it is
supernatural insight into the realms of spirits.
•
This gift reveals to the person who operates in this gift both
good and bad spirits (a person can see in the spirit realm)
•
It is not the Gift of Discernment (Every believer should have
discernment!)
•
Mark 9:25
•
Many times people confuse this gift with the Word of Knowledge.
•
Jesus knew this was a dumb and deaf spirit because he could
see it in the spirit realm.
•
There are 3 kinds of Spirits
•
Divine, Satanic, Human
•
This gift is not the ability to discern faults in others. (People
do this all the time!)
