1. What are the benefits of living on land for plants? How about for animals? What are
the costs for each group?
2. How have plants solved some of the problems associated with terrestrial life?
3. How might jaws have evolved in fish? Give an examples of a living fish that has no
jaws. What are the major groups of jawed fish?
4. Were the first tetrapods more like ray-finned fish or lobe-finned fish? What evidence
supports your answer?

Human evolution
1. How can one tell from fossil fragments whether a species was bipedal (an upright
