Assignment: You must complete 10 of the 20 words below. 3 of the words should be from #1-7, 3 of the
words should be from #8-14, and 3 of the words should be from #15-20 (the 10th word can be from
anywhere on the list). Try to pick words that you are unfamiliar with (it will help you with test
preparation!) Please make sure you are working individually.

For each of the words above, please complete the following:
a. Write ONE useable definition for the term (a definition that is accurate that you can
actually remember)
b. Provide TWO examples for that term (for example, if “Restrictive population policies” is
one of your words, give two examples of restrictive population policies).
c. Develop a 1-3 sentence creation that incorporates THREE population geography terms, the
one that you are focusing on plus two other words. I’ll give you two examples using
“Demographic Transition Model,” we’ll see if you can figure out the best example.
i. EXAMPLE #1 – “Demographic Transition Model, demography, and ecumene are
three words that deal with population geography.”
ii. EXAMPLE #2 – “The Demographic Transition Model (DTM) is based, in part, on
the Rate of Natural Increase. Countries that have a Stationary Population Level
would likely be in Stage 4 of the DTM.”
iii. Can you figure out which is the better example? (HINT: It’s not #1!)
