In this lesson, students define nouns, verbs and adjectives, then
categorize words they have been working with in the China unit.
Materials
word bank

Procedure
Discuss, define and chart the words noun, proper noun, verb and adjective.
Have the students form a working definition of each with examples. Write
some sample sentences and have students identify nouns, proper nouns,
verbs and adjectives.
When the students are comfortable identifying nouns, proper nouns, verbs
and adjectives, download, reproduce and distribute the worksheet (below)
for each student. Have the students use the word bank to categorize some
words onto the worksheet. The teacher can choose words for younger
students.
