RSG MEETING MINUTES
Welcome to our newly-elected Representatives!
Introductions
Presentation by the Chinese Entrepreneur Network to request funds:
 Total cost of event $5,000-$6,000 – mostly for food
 Requesting $1,000 for printing/publication; $500 for flyers
 Posted flyers and advertisement materials in campus buildings and bus stops
 About 200 people expected to attend, aiming for more
 Free to the public
 Will include RSG logo in advertising materials and website
 MOTION: $500, or $625, or $750
o APPROVED: $625
(Michael) City Council proposal on new housing development:
 Housing for grad/professional students
 City Council rejected proposal by contractor
 City Council wants RSG to survey grad students on housing – type of housing they’re currently
living in, location, etc.
 RSG Board expressed general interest
 More information will be forthcoming
(Marie) Health Insurance update:
 RSG feedback was submitted
 No updates
(Cherisse) Gave brief overview of budget process for the new members
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Student Life: (Ethan)
 Gave brief overview of Committee’s role and function
 Committee meeting next Friday
 (Amit) March Madness – was successful. Had 200 participants. 3 gift card prizes will be given to
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
 (Michael) Fall Picnic – he will reserve the park.


(Michael) St. Patty’s Day t-shirts – 227 people ordered t-shirts. Will wait to receive the money
before placing the order. Since a large number of t-shirts will be ordered, the price per shirt will
decrease, thus the remaining money will be saved for a future batch of t-shirts.
Michael suggested a t-shirt design contest.
Academics: (Marie)
 No applications for Continuous Enrollment Dispute Resolution Board have been submitted
 Gave brief overview of Committee’s role and function.
 Will continue conversation about the issues regarding GSRAs.
Budget: (Cherisse)
 Dorothy’s salary is pending.
 Waiting to confirm amount spent on Pistons game.
 Total balance: $8,375
Legislative: (Adam)
 SAGE issues that will be lobbied for in DC – immigration item (H1B visas), taxability of
fellowships, and loan forgiveness programs
 Gave brief overview of Committee’s role and function
 Gave brief overview of MAGPS
Administration: (Michael)
 Will take a group photo for the website.
Elections: (Michael)
 Newly-elected Board will be installed on May 3rd.
 RSG meetings will take place every two weeks during the summer.
 For those not around in the summer, meeting attendance will be excused. However, notify the
new Executive Board if you will not be in Ann Arbor in the summer.
 (Mayela) Dorothy will no longer be the primary contact for the new Representatives. New
contacts will be Michael, Cherisse, and Mayela.
