CHAPTER 2 REVIEW SHEET
1. Use Base-10 blocks to represent numbers – either as a model, or a sketch.
Example: 235
2. Write the numeral for each set of Base-10 blocks.
Example:
Answer: 305
3. EXPANDED FORM: a way to write a number that shows the value of each digit
Ex. 489 can be written in EXPANDED FORM as 400 + 80 + 9
4. Standard Form: 489
5. In Words: Four hundred, eighty-nine
6. Round numbers to the nearest 10, or 100.
Example: 864
Rounded to the nearest 10 is 860.
Rounded to the nearest 100 is 900.
(remember, numbers are LAZY and will take the shortest route!)
7. Arrange numbers from the greatest to the least.
Example: Arrange the following numbers from greatest to least: 358, 583, 385, 835
Answer: 835, 583, 385, 358
8. Arrange numbers from the least to the greatest.
Example: Arrange the following numbers from least to greatest: 226, 626, 262, 222.
Answer: 222, 226, 262, 626
9. Be able to explain why a number is greater or lesser than another.
Example: Which number is greater 306 pages, or 366 pages?
Answer: 366 pages is greater because there are 6 tens as opposed to 0 tens in 306 pages.
10. Coins: Know the value of each type of coin  two-nie = $2.00, loonie = $1.00, quarter =
25c or $0.25, dime = 10 c or $0.10, nickel = 5 c or $0.05, penny = 1 c or $0.01. Also, know
how to use different combinations to make the same amount.
