Chapter 13 Review
Evaluate the six trigonometric functions for the angle  .
1.
2.
Give the values for the other five trigonometric functions given the following.
3. sin  

Solve right triangle DEF.
6. D = 40o, f = 8
7. E = 53o, d = 13
8. d = 15, f = 18

Solve the acute or obtuse triangle. If there is more than one possible triangle, solve for both. If there is no
triangle, state so.
9. B = 55o, a = 20, b = 25
10. A = 48 , C = 120o, b = 5
11. a = 11, b = 2, c = 12
12. A = 37o, a = 11, b = 15
13. B= 15o, C = 135o, b = 15
14. B = 62o, a = 5, c = 5
15. B = 34o, C = 108o, b = 20
16. A = 30o, a = 20, b = 38
17. C = 42o,, a = 22, b = 35
18. A = 91o, C = 10o, b = 100
19. a = 5, b = 17, c = 21
20. A = 42o, a = 10, b = 21
21. An airplane is flying at an altitude of 31,000 feet when it begins is descent for landing. If the runway is 104
miles away, what is the angle of its decent? (angle of depression)
22. The sun casts a shadow of a man that is 5 feet, 5
inches long. The angle of elevation is 50o. What is
the height of the man in feet and inches?
23. The sun casts a shadow of a pine tree on the
ground. The tree is 65 feet tall. The angle of
depression is 53.4o. How long is the shadow?
24. You are building a triangular concrete patio that
has side lengths of 8 ft., 11 ft., and 15 ft. and a
thickness of 0.5 ft.. If one bag of cement makes
0.33 cubic feet of concrete, how many bags of
cement do you need to build the patio? EXPLAIN.
25. You are on the observation deck of the Empire
State Building looking at the Chrysler Building.
When you turn 145o clockwise, you see the Statue
of Liberty. You know that the Chrysler Building
and the Empire State Building are 0.6 miles apart
and that the Chrysler Building and the Statue of
Liberty are about 5.7 miles apart. Find the distance
between the Empire State Building and the Statue of
Liberty.
