Project Idea My project idea is, use and learn from the data given to predict the possible NBA games outcome. I have been following games and news of NBA closely, so I think it would be great to do the project related to something I'm interested. There are many experts and gambling sites trying to find the best program to predict the outcome of a game, so I also think that it will be a good practice for me trying to produce something that is actually of practical use and it will also be a good addition to my resume. Data source About the data, I choose it from http://www.basketball-reference.com/ because the data in the site is quite complete. Furthermore, it also contains some unique advanced data and measure method that could allow my model to make different prediction rather than just traditional ones. What makes this site more feasible is the site allows users to convert the data into many other forms including CSV or pure text form for preprocess. Evaluation I plan to do my evaluation in two ways. First, I will use the game results of NBA history to test if my prediction matches and what is the accuracy. I will also use my program to predict the outcome of upcoming NBA games and determine my accuracy. Second, there is a website called Covers that predict the odds of upcoming NBA games, I can compare my result with the data the website provided and determine my predict accuracy.
