Directions – Give three equivalent fractions. (You choose what to multiply by or divide ):

Simplest Form – the numerator and denominator have no common factors other than 1 (GCF is 1)
* Divide both numerator and denominator by the GCF:
Example: 30 ÷ 15 = 2
45 ÷ 15 = 3
If you can’t remember how to find the GCF, find any common factor to divide by, then keep going !
Ex.
30 ÷ 5 = _6_
45 ÷ 5 = 9
then, divide again because
not in simplest form
_6_ ÷ 3 = _2_
9
÷ 3 = 3

Comparing Fractions –
3 possible Methods:
1. Find common denominators to make new fractions, then compare the numerators
2. Cross multiply
3. Change to decimals by dividing
3 x 20 = 60
Example:
3
8
10 x 8 = 80
<
(60 < 80)
10
20
(Method 1 wouldn’t be the best option because it would mean a
large common denominator; Method 2 would be the best option)
Method 3: .375
