Line of Symmetry – a line on which a figure can be folded so that the two parts fit
Congruent – figures that have the same shape and size
Scalene Triangle – no sides the same length
Vertex – the point that the two rays of an angle have in common
Parallel lines – two lines that lay in the same plane and so not intersect
Polygon – a closed figure formed by line segments
Acute Angle – that measure less than 90 degrees
Obtuse Angle – an angle that measures greater than 90 degrees and less then 180
degrees
Circle – a plane figure in which all points are the same distance from a point called the
center

Quadrilateral – a polygon with 4 sides
Square – all sides the same length all angles, right angles
Pentagon – a polygon with 5 sides
Angle - two rays form a single point
Area – the measure of a region in square units
Flip – to turn a figure to its reverse side
Pyramid – a space figure whose base is a polygon and whose faces are triangles with a
common vertex
Edge – one of the segments making up any of the faces of a space figure
Diameter - a segment containing two points of a circle and the center point
Radius – a segment from the center of a circle to a point on the circle
Rectangle – quadrilateral that has four right angles
Symmetric – when a plane figure is folded in half and both halves match
Right triangle - a triangle that has one right angles of 90 degrees
Hexagon – a polygon with 6 sides
Parallelogram – a quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel lines
Sphere – a space figure in which all the points are the same distance from the center
point
Circumference – the distance around a circle
Chord – a straight line with both endpoints on a circle
Face – one of the plane figures (surface) making up a space figure
Cylinder- a space figure in with 2 congruent circular faces
