5.2 Congruent Polygons
Classifying Triangles in the Coordinate
Plane
Classify the triangle based on its coordinates.
A(-1,2) B(0, 0)C(6, 3)
D(-2, 2) E(1,6) F(5, 3)
Interior vs. Exterior Angles
Proof
• Prove that the acute angles of a right triangle
are always supplementary.
Find the measure of each acute angle
in the right triangle.
1) Four times the measure of one acute angle is
two times the measure of the other acute
angle.
2) The measure of one acute angle is eight
times the measure of the other acute angle.
3) Four times the measure of one acute angle is
equal to five times the measure of the other
acute angle.
Corresponding Parts
A rigid motion maps each
part of a figure to a
corresponding part of its
image.
Congruent Polygons
• If two polygons are congruent, then all their
corresponding parts (like sides and angles) are
congruent.
• If two polygons have corresponding parts that
are congruent, then the polygons are
congruent.
• Identify all congruent parts and write a
congruence statement for the previous slide.
