Mead Anatomy and Physiology Lap #4 Nervous System: Chapters 9, 10, 12 Essential Question: How does the anatomy and physiology of the nervous system affect the homeostasis of the human body? Rationale: The purpose of this unit is to discuss the functioning of the nervous system, including the senses. We will study the microscopic structure of neurons and look at how it impacts functioning at the higher levels. We will also study the major brains areas and senses of the human body. Conduction of nervous impulse will be discussed. Objectives: After completing this lap, students will be able to: 4.1 List the functions of the nervous system. 4.2 Describe the structure and function of the neuron. 4.3 Describe the structure and functions of the brain. 4.4 Describe the structure and function of the sensory structures.
