Parallel Lines and Perpendicular lines
Parallel lines are lines in
the same plane that
never intersect. They
have the same slope and
different y-intercepts.
Perpendicular lines are
lines that intersect to
form a right angle. The
slope of one is the
opposite reciprocal of the
slope of the other.

y=2x -3 => m=2,
y=2x+5 => m=2,

Inequalities in Two Variables
The solutions of an
inequality in two
variables are the ordered
pairs of numbers that
make the inequality true.
When you graph a linear
equation, the coordinate
plane is separated into
three sets: the set of
points on the line, the set
of points above the line,
and the set of points
below the line.
The regions above the
line and below the line
are called half-planes.
The line is called a
boundary line.
Graphing Linear Inequalities
1) Graph the boundary line by
writing the inequality into an
equation. (solid line for
or and dashed line for <
or >)
2) Test a point that is not on the
line, such as (0,0).
3) When the tested point gives
you a true statement, shade
that half plane. If not, shade
the other side of the
boundary line.
