Course Description
Algebra II with Trigonometry includes the study of advanced algebra along with
an excellent unit in trigonometry. The following topics will be included: operations with
complex numbers, operations with functions, solving equations using laws of exponents,
solving trigonometric and logarithmic equations, solving systems of equations and using
matrices, graphing trigonometric functions, verifying trigonometric identities and
calculating probabilities. The course is required for all students pursing the diploma with
advanced academic endorsement. Algebra II with Trigonometry is strongly
recommended for college bound students.
Attendance Policy:
A parent, guardian, or legal custodian having charge of any child officially enrolled in
Alabama public schools(K-12) shall explain in writing the cause of any and every
absence of the child no later than three(3) school days following return to school. The
parent note will enable the child to make-up any work missed or prevent charges from
being filed against the parent, guardian or legal custodian when a child is absent. A
failure to furnish an explanation shall be evidence of the child being truant each day
he/she is absent.
Any student in grades K-12 who has accumulated more than 20 excused absences or
more than 10 unexcused absences for the school year may be retained. Any students in
grades 9-12 that has accumulated more than 10 unexcused absences for courses that grant
one credit annually may be denied credit for that course.
(See Poets Points/Code of Student Behavior for additional information.)
Tardy Policy
Any student not seated in his/her assigned desk by the sound of the tardy bell is
considered tardy to class.
Consequences
First Tardy: Student Conference
Second Tardy: Parental Contact
Third Tardy: Parental Conference
Fourth Tardy: Office Referral
Dress Code Policy
State educational authorities and recent court decisions have determined that style of
dress and hair should not disrupt classes, interfere with learning, prevent instruction, and
should comply with state health and safety standards. Montgomery Public Schools
believes that requiring neat, clean, and appropriate clothing encourages an atmosphere
conducive to learning, work, and discipline. Students are required to dress according to
Board Policy.
ALL MONTGOMERY PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO
WEAR UNIFORMS.
(See MPS Code of Student Behavior)
Dress Code Violations
Consequences
First Violation: Parental Contact
Second Violation: One-Day Detention and Appropriate Apparel
Third or Subsequent Violation: Upgraded to B10: Persistent/Willful Disobedience

Class Expectation
1. Once student enter the classroom, he/she may not leave the classroom. It is
recommended that each student take care of all business before entering the room.
2. Each student must be seated when the bell rings. If a student is not seated when the

Make-Up Procedures
Responsibility for making up work after an absence rests on the student. A
student shall have the opportunity to make-up exams/tests or work which occurred during
an excused absence. When a student returns to school after an excused absence, he/she
has three(3) days or the number of days equal to the number of days of consecutive
absences, whichever is greater, following the student’s return to class to make-up work. It
shall be the responsibility of the student or student’s parent, guardian, or legal custodian
to arrange with each teacher to make-up work. Make-up work shall be permitted only
when written excuses from parent, guardian, or legal custodian have been received in
accordance with this policy. Students missing school as a result of a suspension shall be
counted as an unexcused absence and no make-up work is allowed and a failing grade is
given for missed assignments. If a suspension is modified or reversed through the
suspension appeal process, related absences will be excused and the student will receive
make-up work for those excused days.
TESTS MAY ONLY BE MADE UP BEFORE OR AFTER SCHOOL ON
DESIGNATED DAY AND TIME.
Make-up Day: Wednesday
