3-hab provides a very unique management tool in the MCO world by utilizing ONLY physicians to manage
claims. Claim management is by orthopedic, chiropractic, occupational medicine, psychologist and dental
physician case managers. These physicians approve/deny reimbursement and will take the next step and call
the Physician of Record (POR) to discuss treatment.
o 3-hab physicians proactively manage ALL claims ensuring timely and effective treatment.

3-hab’s physicians speak directly to the (POR) concerning a release to return the injured worker safely back to
work when time off work is not appropriate.
o Minimizes lost time/compensation that ultimately saves premium dollars.

3-hab has developed a proprietary computer system over the 20 years of being in business.
o 3-hab is able to customize and produce reports quickly to employer’s specifications.

3-hab’s physicians frequently consult with the employers and discuss difficult cases.
o This provides clarification on what’s going on with the claim and is an opportunity to answer
employers’ questions.


o 3-hab physicians may identify possible issues and are proactive to avoid or resolve them.

Open Enrollment.
o The drain on an employer’s premium is typically minimized because the injured worker is no longer
receiving temporary total disability compensation since our physicians are highly successful in
obtaining work releases.

MoD score the new MCO measurement on this years BWC report card.
o The MoD measures the ability to get the injured worker released which is managed by the MCO. MoD
also measures the willingness of companies (union and non-union) to allow the injured worker to
return to work. The Mod therefore measures the book of business of each MCO over which the MCO
has no control.
The role of physicians and nurses at 3-hab.
o 3-hab’s staff physicians minimize the use of nurses except for our dedicated nurse team that
coordinates catastrophic case management along with their physician partners.

