TEACHERS’ NOTES – Who’s There To Help


Stress the importance of the individual efforts required to develop skills and personal qualities and to
acquire knowledge so as to achieve personal and career goals. Some people can achieve what they
want effortlessly – it comes naturally to them. But most of us have to work hard and be motivated to
succeed in our ambitions and dreams.
Raise awareness of types of help available – no one has to go it alone’ e.g. if a student wanted to
become a good swimmer they could ask for help from their Physical Education Teacher. They could
ask their parents to help. See about getting help from the local swimming baths – perhaps there are
courses or clubs there, buy or borrow a video or book.
I small groups students brainstorm what help there is available and record on flipchart paper as shown
below for 2 or 3 areas of development which the group should decide.

Once each group has presented its findings, class to add any missing resources to what they have come
up with.
Individually students then need to identify a particular skill they want to develop further and then list
