Hermon Pond Food Web
Name:_________________________________ Class:________________
Directions: Students will neatly illustrate, color, and label a Food Web for the Hermon pond ecosystems without simply copying from the web or other
source.
Food Web Rubric: Standard – Student will construct a correctly made food web including labeling of parts.
4-exceeds
 The food web must contain:
At least 7 food chains that
intersect in a logical,
realistic manner. Min. of 20
biotic factors. All arrows
are correct.
o Each food chain must
include a producer, a
primary consumer, and a
secondary consumer. Each
must be labeled correctly.
o Consumer must also be
labeled as an herbivore,
carnivore, omnivore, or
decomposer.
o At least one predator-prey
relationship must be
shown and labeled.
Correctly labeled mamal using

a scientific name and common
name.
Include all parts including the

sun.
Shows both ecosystems by the

construction of the poster.
Shows use of a draft and
excellent effort.

Comments:
At least 6 food chains that
intersect in a logical,
realistic manner. Min. of 15
biotic factors. Most arrows
are correct.

Can tell the ecosystem by the
construction of the poster.
Shows use of a draft and good
effort.

using common name.
 Can tell the ecosystem by the
construction of the poster.
 No use of a draft and fair
effort.




Shows very little effort
including no evidence of a
rough draft.
o No food chains that
intersect in a logical,
realistic manner.
o No evidence of a
producer, a primary
consumer, and a
secondary consumer.
o No evidence - consumer
must also be labeled as
an herbivore, carnivore,
omnivore, or
decomposer.
o At least one predatorprey relationship must
be shown and labeled.
Incorrectly label organisms
Does not include the sun.
