EARTH SCIENCE CONTENT & LANGAUGE OBJECTIVES
BENCHMARK 3
DYNAMIC EARTH
Content Objectives (Students will be able to):
D-1: Identify ways in which various resources can be recycled and reused.
D-2: Explain the water cycle.
D-3: Identify factors that cause or affect weather patterns.
D-4: Identify factors that affect the rate of evaporation, condensation, and cloud formation.
D-5: Identify the difference between weather and climate.
D-6: Explain how geography affects climate.
D-7: Recognize the solid Earth is layered with a lithosphere, a hot convecting mantle, and a
dense metallic core.
D-8/10: Identify the processes and factors that result in different kinds of landforms affecting
water flow, soil erosion, and deposition.
D-11: Describe the evidence for and the theory of plate tectonics.
D-12/13: Explain the rock cycle in terms of constructive, and destructive forces in land
formation, and describe that the total amount of Earth material stays the same.
Language Objectives (Students will):
