GIULIA MANICARDI
Conductor
Giulia Manicardi was born in Modena and graduated in piano under the guide of Maestro
F. Scala at the Conservatory “A. Pedrollo” in Vicenza.
She graduated with a first class degree at the Institute of Music, University of Parma.
She graduated in conducting with a first class degree under the guide of Maestro L.
Acocella at the Conservatory “G. B. Martini” in Bologna.
She attended master classes at the International Academy of Piano “Incontri col maestro”
in Imola with Teachers: N. Magaloff, L. Berman, A. Lonquich, B. Petrushansky, J. Demus,
S. Fiorentino.
Moreover, she studied piano with Maestro M. Teresa Carunchio, composition with C.
Giacomini, C. Landuzzi and vocal technique with G. Visintin.
Further experiences include chamber music, taking part in several national and
international competitions and winning important prizes and recognition. She is an active
solo and chamber pianist and has many important collaborations with opera and lieder
singers.
She has been teaching advanced courses for actors at the ERT, Emilia Romagna
Theatres.
Since 2010 she held workshops on vocal technique at the Casa Encendida in Madrid.
She attended conducting master classes with Maestros V. Tchiftchian (Academy of Sofia),
D. Pascu (National Academy of Bucarest) and achieved her higher diploma at the “Istituto
A. Benvenuti” in Conegliano. She took part in the 8th edition of the international
Masterclass for conductors, sponsored by the Feltrina Music Association “G.B.Maffioletti”.
In 2004 she achieved the Diploma of Conducting at the Wiener Meisterkurse (Wien) with
Maestro S. Mas Conde.
She studied at the Masterclass in Musikhochschule of Luzern with M° Bernard Haitink and
Luzern Symphony Orchestra (Luzern 2007).
She performed in a variety of concerts, such as the Youth Symphony Orchestra of
Bucharest, the Symphony Festival Orchestra of Plovdiv (Bulgaria), the Venice Symphony
Orchestra, the Baroque Ensemble of Teatina Chapel ( Bologna), the Ensemble Guidantus,
AdM Ensemble, Vratza Philarmonic Orchestra (BG), Arte Resoluta, Alighieri Symphony
Orchestra of Ravenna, I Musici of the Accademia of Bologna.
Since 2001 she is stable Conductor of “L. Gazzotti” Choir (Modena), which she performed
many productions with, including G. Faurè (Requiem), A. Vivaldi (Gloria, Magnificat), J.
Haydn (Nelson Mass), A. Scarlatti (Dixit Dominus), G. F. Handel (Dixit Dominus, Laudate
Pueri), W. A. Mozart (Davide Penitente, Great Mass in C minor), J. Brahms (A German
Requiem), L. Bernstein (Chichester Psalms) G. Rossini (Petite Messe Solennelle).
She worked with Maestro Luciano Acocella as an assistant.
In the 2011/12 season she conducted Verdi’s La Traviata and Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore
in the theaters of Cesena, Correggio, Chiavari, Salsomaggiore, Rimini, under the direction
of Paolo Panizza in the OPERA FUTURA productions.
From December 2011 she started a collaboration with the Orchestra I Musici of the
Accademia Filarmonica of Bologna through a series of concerts including the Academic
Celebrations, held in Bologna in 2012.
