1. The larger of two numbers is two more than four times the smaller. The larger number
minus the smaller number is 38. What are the numbers?
2. U-tow charges a $20 flat rate for truck rental plus 35 cents per mile. Rent-a-truck
charges a $30 flat rate for truck rental but only 15 cents per mile. At what mileage do
the two companies charge the same amount?
3. The total for the cost of my meal plus 7% tax was $53.50. How much did my meal cost
before tax?
