Cloud-Managed and Unified
Wired and Wireless
Networking Launch
Interop Las Vegas, March 2014
General
What is HP announcing?
HP is announcing new solutions that enhance the existing HP Unified Wired and Wireless (UWW) portfolio with a new Cloud-Managed
Networking solution, next-generation wireless access points (APs), and new scalable unified wired and wireless appliances. HP is also
extending its SDN leadership with future OpenFlow support on its wireless APs, the general availability of SDN applications for the campus,
and a new location-based SDN application that can create new revenue opportunities for organizations.
What customer challenges are addressed by the complete HP UWW solutions?
As more users are accessing mission-critical applications on the enterprise network via mobile devices, the network is becoming more
complex to manage and secure. In addition, users are expecting a reliable experience that is consistent with the experience they are used to
on the wired network; but they face poor application performance. The network remains primarily a cost center and IT organizations need to
align the network to business requirements to add business value.
What components of the complete HP UWW solutions are being announced in Interop 2014?
At Interop, HP is announcing the following new products, solutions, and services:
• HP Cloud-Managed Networking solutions
• HP 560 802.11ac Dual-Radio Access Points and future OpenFlow support for MSM46X, HP 560 & HP 425 APs
• HP 517 Unified Wall Jack
• HP 870 and HP 850 Unified Wired-WLAN Appliances
• HP Intelligent Management Center (IMC) Mobile Device Management (MDM) Integration
• HP Network Optimizer and Network Protector SDN Applications
• HP Location Aware SDN Application and HP Smart Shopper technology demonstration
What are the key benefits of the complete HP UWW solutions?
The complete HP UWW solutions are designed to support mobility initiatives for businesses of all sizes by providing improved mobile enduser experiences—delivered at triple the speed. In addition, the HP UWW network combined with SDN opens the door for new business
opportunities, enabling IT professionals to derive greater business value from the network.

Cloud Network Manager
What is the Cloud Network Manager?
HP cloud-hosted management platform speeds deployments by configuring the APs from the cloud and streamlines provisioning,
management, and troubleshooting of multiple distributed sites from a single platform. It also helps reduce costs by doing away with the need
to maintain an onsite management platform.
Does the customer need to buy a separate mobility controller to get the Cloud Network Manager?
No, separate hardware is not required. The Cloud Network Manager is based on a pay-as-you-use software-as-a-service model.
What are the AP products that will be supported by the Cloud Network Manager?
The Cloud Network Manager works with the HP 300 Series 802.11n and HP 802.11ac Cloud-Managed Access Points.
2
What are the key features of the Cloud Network Manager?
The Cloud Network Manager supports the following key features:

HP IMC-MDM Integration
What is the IMC-MDM Integration?
IMC EAD, a critical module in the IMC BYOD solution, now integrates with two leading mobile device management applications—Citrix
XenMobile and MobileIron—to provide a complete BYOD solution. These two applications provide the mobile device posturing required to
verify that all endpoint devices accessing the corporate network are healthy and compliant with access policies. IMC can grant access to
compliant devices and provide consistent access policies to users of wired and wireless endpoints.
Figure 5. Unified BYOD essentials
What are the key features of this integration?
IMC EAD posture-checks devices for compliance to grant access to the network with selectable MDM-vendor-dependent criteria. The entire list
of criteria is not represented.
• MDM endpoint registration and MDM policy compliance
• Password-enabled and auto-lock device access
• Jail-breaking or rooting
• Storage encryption
How can my customer benefit from the IMC-MDM Integration?
With this integration, the customer’s network will be more secure, because endpoints that are accessing the corporate network have been
vetted by a mobile-device-management system. IMC does not allow endpoints that have been breached (such as jail-broken devices) or have
points of vulnerabilities (such as access-password disabled) onto the corporate network. Endpoints that are compliant with MDM policies are
granted access to the network by IMC and users get the benefits of an IMC BYOD solution, such as consistent experience across a wired or
wireless network.
When will the IMC-MDM Integration be available?
The IMC-MDM Integration requires the purchase of IMC EAD. Customers who purchase the IMC EAD after March 31st will gain the mobiledevice-posturing feature. Customers who have a current IMC CarePack and who already own IMC EAD can upgrade their current solution by
downloading IMC EAD after March 31st. The IMC User Access Manager is a requisite for the IMC BYOD solution. For more information, visit

HP Smart Shopper technology demonstration
What is Smart Shopper?
The Smart Shopper is a retail analytics package for the HP Smart Profile Server, developed by the HP Communications and Media Solutions
(CMS) group. It was developed as a proof-of-concept technology for a large service provider to enable new services for retailers.
The Smart Shopper demonstrates how retailers can monetize their network and improve the customer experience by delivering real-time,
location-based, dynamic retail analytics. It leverages the same technology as the Location Aware Application, developed by HP Labs, to
accurately pinpoint the location of consumers in retail environments. Organizations can increase sales by personalizing the consumer
shopping experience and drive revenue through targeted promotion of new and relevant products.
What are the key features of the Smart Shopper?
The Smart Shopper application is an aggregate solution, consisting of products from multiple HP business segments led by CMS. The HP
inventive in-store shopping experience combines location-based services with contextually-rich profile information from the Smart Profile
Server and virtual-reality implementations from Autonomy Aurasma. Shoppers are tracked in real time through an indoor shopping
environment and are provided information based on their exact location and active user profile.
