Math 20 Course Information Spring 2013 Instructor: Karla Karstens Office: Lord House Room 302 Phone: 656-8543 e-mail: [email protected] Office hours: MWF 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Other times by appointment th Text: Calculus with Applications; Lial, Greenwell, & Ritchey, 10 edition Course Goals Competence in algebraic processes and calculations Analysis and interpretation of graphs Understanding of the integral and evaluating integrals Solve problems using integration Know and understand the relationship between the derivative and the integral Apply calculus concepts to multivariable functions Investigate problems in Probability and Statistics Quizzes: There will be an in-class quiz every Thursday. THERE WILL BE NO MAKE UP QUIZZES! I will drop your 2 lowest quiz scores when calculating your quiz average. Course Compass: There will be an on-line assignment which will compliment each section of the book that we cover. Each assignment will be made available on the day that a section is covered and there will be a due date that will allow for sufficient time to complete the work. The Course Compass code for our class: karstens79517. Tests: There will be three hour tests and a Final Exam for this course. Make-up tests are possible if there has been adequate notice, but should not be assumed.
